    Two: both gone.
The original pirate on the big ship in Pirates (ya bloomin' cockroachers), and the main character guy in the Carousel of Progress that told the story. Fantastic memories of this ride.

Two old attraction friends, Mr. Johnson and, later, Harold on Matterhorn. I liked the Carousel father too, but never worked with him.

My favorites, well some of them don't exist anymore and some of them do. Those that do call Splash Mountain their home. The rest used to be a part of a very popular and sorely missed attraction by countless of Disney fans.

Agreed. I remember the first time I rode it. I was in 5th grade and went to school in the Anaheim district. At the end of the year the school/district had extra monies for field trips and they decided to take us to Disneyland because it was the bicentennial year. We got to visit Mr. Lincoln, watch "America on Parade," and go on America Sings. They also let us visit a couple of other attractions that had American historical value. I still remember how cool America Sings was at the time in its celebration of American music. They then let us choose one ride we wanted to ride before we left. Was a cool memory of the bicentennial year and what Disney had to offer. In fact, so much of what has made Disneyland so special to me was how much it elicited interest in both historical and literary subjects for me growing up. It got me wanting to know more about Mark Twain, pirates, atoms and molecules, Mars, and liquid space, to name just a few. And none of it needed a movie tie-in to engage me. <g>

Your description reminds me of another part that I miss about the ride from back in the day. The Star Spangled paint job on the building. To this day, it is still a THOUSAND times better than that travesty of Innoventions.

I am probably not the only one that loved doing this, but every time I rode that, when the train past the goat, I would maintain complete eye contact with it, turning my head as we went down the track/drop. It was always a complete rush. I looked for that on BTMRR at Magic Kingdom today when I rode it, and was disappointed that they didn't have the same goat.

Are we talking about the one that threatens to spray you, or the little baby elephant? Because I like that one. Too cute.
