    Re: Disney Land Australia

A higher level WDI cast member came to one of my college classes and did let some things slip about future resorts:
    1. They looked into Australia and decided not to mainly due to small local population.
    2. Dubai was actually heavily considered but Disney couldn't agree on a few things so that got scrapped.
    3. Brazil is the most likely place for the next resort.
They already have two resorts in North America, three in Asia, and one in Europe.
The southern hemisphere hasn't been touched yet.
They know that they have the language problem, but they will use the same techniques they used in Paris.
Brazil is not located anywhere close to WDW. Shanghai, Tokyo, and Hong Kong are all much closer to each other than a Brazil resort would be to Orlando.

Compare the population density of SE Asia to the Caribbean and get back to me.

I honestly would rather see Disneyland Australia than Brazil. It would seem like a good fit, too - getting to Hong Kong, Tokyo or Shanghai isn't exactly "easy" for someone from Australia, it's at least a 10 hour flight. On the other hand can the locals support it?

    Re: Disney Land Australia

I know Australia's population is small. But, Sydney airport is bery busy and Sydney itself is a very popular destination. Do not forget that Australian's income is very high and well above another countries.

Regarding Brazil... Well... A DL here would be nice. But, Brazil is not a first world country(Australia is) and Brazil has a lot of problems in the cities that need to be fixed. And, if DL is going to be built here, I think it is going to be in Rio. That said, I cannot even imagine the ticket value, since Rio is a VERY EXPENSIVE city. It is the most expensive city I have ever seen(hotels, food, transportation). Don't get me wrong, Rio is beautiful and some parts of the city and very charming and unique(that you will not find anything similar in the world). But, the gap between poorest and richest is HUGE!

Considering that Paris is a very expensive city and has DL and Rio is even more expensive than Paris, I cannot even imagine the cost that a trip to DL in Brazil would cost. Only if they decide to make the parks more affordable to Brazilian "mid-class" people.

Let me rephrase that: A retired WDI Cast member who helped open the parks in Orlando, Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong (and was brought back to help plan Shanghai) let a few things slip about the companies research into their next resort property.

I cannot imagine Disney ever taking a chance in Australia with both Paris and HK still struggling. So far Tokyo is the only successful resort outside the US.
