Knott's Boardwalk vs. Disney California Adventure's Paradise Pier

Which is better, in terms of theme, in terms of rides? Knott's Boardwalk: http://www.sandytoesandpopsicles.com...-expansion.jpg
or Disney California Adventure's Paradise Pier

For the rides, or the theme?

You can't nearly compare the two. Knott's is three small rides and a small pool of water. Paradise Pier has just about all of what the Knott's expansion has (Wild mouse and flat rides) but on a much larger scale with much more. I think it's funny how much criticism Paradise Pier gets but Knott's is applauded for doing the same thing but on a much smaller and less elaborate scale. I just don't get the logic.

It's a bit weird how Knott's is moving away from the classic pier theme whereas DCA is moving back towards it. I think DCA has the better look and idea but the potential is only half realized until everything is more in sync with the intended 1920s pier theme.

Paradise Pier looks much better aesthetically than boardwalk imo.

The water under the boards look is interesting for theming, but I don't exactly like it. And you want to talk about three completely "off the shelf" rides (as DCA is ALWAYS criticized for...)!
It's actually "Cars Land", not "Carsland".

The type of rides should not factor into this. Aesthetically, Knotts wins.

Have to give it to Disney (DCA) .. It has one incredible "dark ride" anchoring it - Midway Mania. I'm actually sad Knott's is wasting this space to a couple stupid spinners .. when they should be doing a few dark rides themselves. I would have thought Matt Oimet (formally DL president .. as everyone here should know) .. would give Knott's something for entire families .. not more "metal junk" only teens and 20-somethings want.

The pier theme is cheap and tacky and doesn't belong in a Disney park in the first place.

It does fit in very well with the California theme. There are/have been any number of 'amusement piers' in California. Long Beach Pike/Nu Pike, Pacific Ocean Park, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, & the Santa Monica Pier come to mind. And most of those tend to be on the 'tacky' carnival-ish end of the spectrum. I really don't find Paradise Pier to be actually cheap or tacky, just Disney's version of it, which I am sure wasn't cheap to build. Paradise Pier isn't supposed to 'look Disney', it's supposed to look 'amusement pier'.

"amusement pier" with Disney character decals slapped on everything. That to me is tacky and cheap.

Maybe when Paradise Pier first opened you could say that, but to say that about Paradise Pier today is just being overly critical in my opinion. Paradise Pier is beautiful and has great character in my opinion.

I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion but really? I just don't understand how anyone could possibly think that. What makes Knott's boardwalk area even remotely better aesthetically speaking?

True, but in the 50's they were in a sad state of disrepair and Walt Disney hated them. Disneyland was built to be the antithesis of boardwalks/piers.
