No. Fifty years is usually looked at as a bigger milestone than sixty years. There was lots of talk like two years before it came. There really hasn't been that much chatter about the 60th. I imagine the next "50th" will be Disneyland's 75th birthday. I have a feeling that one's going to be huge.

No I don't think so. 60 isn't that big of a deal. I'll chime in to what has already been said that 75 and 100 will be huge bashes. The 50th celebration was amazing at Disneyland, I bet we won't see that much glitz again until the 100th though.

The 50th was so big, it involved every Disney Park in existence. It brought Soarin to Epcot for one thing. The 75th will be the "Diamond Anniversary."

The 60th will go as quietly by as the 40th did. They may have a small ceremony and some merchandise. And some collectors pins I'm sure. But it will be as quiet as a whisper.

The anticipation for the 50th was huge, I booked my room at the Grand Californian a year in advance!

The next big anniversary will be 75 Years. Other than that, unless there is a big change in management they will be pretty low-key with the anniversaries.

I don't think so. Like others have mentioned, 50 is a bigger milestone than 60. There will probably be events but probably not on such a grand scale.

Well they have 17 years to come up with some nice concepts for that particular anniversary. They won't start looking at it till they reach 70 in 2025.

Anything can happen between now & then for the 60th, the 70th, and the 75th.

After all, they even had a short lived fireworks show for the 45th Anniversary. I should know. I have the CD album from that particular celebration.

The 50th was Huge! The 60th no doubt will be much less of a party, but should still be celebrated with decorations on Main Street, a New Parade, a fun theme, etc.

The 40th didn't exactly go "quietly" - don't you remember "40 Years of Adventure", and the celebration began on 1-1-95 with a daily Birthday party celebration in front of the castle with several characters. there was also a special 40th Anniversary show on the Tomorrowland Stage. And decorations where along the enter area to DL, and the entire entry area. And of course the theme of the celebration was for the new E-Ticket Attraction that opened in Adven tureland. It was NOT a quiet Birthday. Nor was the 35th with the Party Gras Celebration. Every 5th Birthday does bring some recognition of DL's birthday, however DL management pretty much threw a lump of coal at DL for it's 55th birthday (yeah, unforgivable)

Well I remember the 40 years of Adventure with the opening of Indy. The rest of it I didn't remember. And I think the reason DL put aside anything for the 55th was because they were concentrating on Cars Land and the total DCA refurb. They put so much $ into that perhaps they didn't want to overkill celebration 5 years after their biggest. Who knows, maybe with that being said they want something for the 60th.

Oh and I certainly remember the 35th and it was one of my favorites. To me the 50th and the 35th were the biggest. The Pardi Gras parade with those huge floats. And the Dream Machine, that big behemoth taking up the Central Plaza Hub, giving prizes away every day. I also remember part of that summer as the time I made my second trip here to WDW, to see MGM Studios for the first time, staying at a Disney resort, and going on a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas. Good times.

Maybe the 60th should be less on bling and more on letting Disneyland shine and stand on its merits. The park has stood the test of time. Make it look great, with all attractions functioning and looking grand, and have people really want to be at Disneyland that day.

Sadly Art Linkletter won't be there, so no it won't be the same.

Unless they have something else to make a 'big deal' over I'm sure they'll go all out marketing the 60th Anniversary.
