Riding the Mark Twain at Night

Yesterday I was watching the 1993 version of A Day at Disneyland and noticed the Mark Twain sailing at night time with people onboard. I know even this version has lots of footage shot earlier than 1993 -- aka before Fantasmic -- so I can understand that the ships would sail at night. But I'm wondering if these ships still sail at night time anymore... sounds like it'd be fun and romantic... but alas I doubt it, right?

any day that Fantasmic runs there are no night voyages. I did go earlier this month and had hoped to go at night but they stopped running before sunset.

I took a night time voyage on the Mark Twain about two months ago, we managed to snag the seats at the very front of the boat, on the bottom level. It was so peaceful, I kind of like that it isnt a daily occurance, it made me enjoy the night time version that much more!

You can ride the Mark Twain at night in the spring when Fantasmic! isn't running. This year they were refurbishing it for most of that time. You can also get a reasonable approximation during the winter when the days are shortest on the last trip before they shut it down for Fantasmic.

    It's really pretty at night.

Plus you can watch the fireworks from the top deck of the ship if you time it right.

There's a lot more night pics here.

We have also rode at night, on nights when there is no Fantasmic. Different and totally worth doing!

Riding the MT at night is one of my fondest childhood memories. (Yes, I was that weird kid who totally dug it.)

The entire park takes on a different personality at night. Some rides are far more magical and charming at night; the Mark Twain is right at the top of that list.

There's just something about a river after dark.....

Re: Riding the Mark Twain at Night

I rode it last winter at "night," though on the shortest days it gets dark before 6 PM so it's not difficult to do. When I went to another amusement park that usually closed at 6 I would go towards closing to take "night rides" on their roller coaster.

It is a wonderful experience if you have the opportunity to do so. It is very dark and serene and they point out POIs with their searchlight. It's an experience that makes you feel it is a real cruise down the Mississippi. It's a whole new experience at night

I have never been able to ride the ships at night. I'll have to try and do that next time I visit.

I've ridden both Columbia and Mark Twain at night and its a very different experience vs riding them during the day. Like someone mentioned earlier, the Mark Twain can be ridden after dark if Fantasmic! is dark or if you go in the winter when the sun goes down a lot earlier.

I'm really interested in riding at night now as well. But I'm sure I've tried before but it's usually closed due to Fantasmic.

I've ridden the Mark Twain once at night and the experience is quite loverly. I really enjoyed it and would love to do it again. Sadly no more AP, meh. But it's peaceful and the artificial wild is a cool : )
