    Re: Explosion at Toontown (05/28/13)

It would barely take a sliver, smaller than a pea, to make a bottle go pop.
It would be unnoticed, until it popped. And even then it wouldn't boom. So the explosion reports, using the word explosion, are absolutely unnecessary and cause more harm than anything.

Maybe they need to ban water bottles? Lol

    POP!

Well that's definitely reassuring, I hope that bag checks were not the only or primary line of defense. But not just bombs, but weapons as well

Initial reports from various sources used the term dry ice explosion. They can get pretty loud depending on the type of bottle and amount of dry ice.

I've made them, I've also used compressed air in a 2 liter, but the volume is nowhere near bomb like. It is a loud POP. I'm sure it was startling, and with everyone on fear alert, of course the hysteria kicks in.

I just hope this doesn't mean that frozen water bottles will no longer be allowed in the parks. It's a godsend in the summertime when you want cool water and don't want to use the drinking fountains at Disney.

Glad this wasn't more serious. And being someone who knows how security checks work I would say the Disney bag checks work great honestly. People love to point fingers at the check points but they work. No one knows how whatever it was got in the park.

exactly. and human decency for others (especially young children) in the park.

I've made them too and proximity to the blast also makes an impact. I'm sure any loud pop or blast would scare the daylights out of me especially in light of recent events. and the sound does sort of mimic the sound of a gunshot

My bet is on a brain-dead teenager who saw a piece of dry ice fall out of an ice cream cart and thought popping it into a water bottle would be a funny prank. I think there is a 100% chance the perp will be caught on camera.

Absolutely. Almost every inch of the park is monitored by security cameras. Especially a central area like City Hall in Toontown.

Dry ice is a scourge on society. No one needs 10 pounds of dry ice. Ban assault dry ice.

The conspiracy theorists are already hypothesizing that Disney is covering up a much worse, real explosion. Imaaaaagination...

It's probably from a odv cart. When I worked there 10 years ago, people would always mess around with that stuff onstage and backstage. I'd play baseball with it or throw it in the rivers of America . The only time I remember someone putting it in a bottle was a year or so before I worked there. A bottle filled with dried ice went off in the locker room and they had to call the cops in.

    Who said anything about that?
"You can cut me off from the civilized world. You can incarcerate me with two moronic cellmates. You can torture me with your thrice daily swill, but you cannot break the spirit of a Winchester. My voice shall be heard from this wilderness and I shall be delivered from this fetid and festering sewer."
