    Will Monsters take over Hollywood?

Some franchises take over a land by design, case in point Cars. Some franchises take over a land by proximity, Pirates on TSI comes to mind. What I'm asking is will Monsters be a popular enough franchise to start "taking over Hollywood?" This is mainly meant to be thought provoking. This isn't Walt's creation anymore. This is a major company backing the products they put on the big screen. 5 years ago I would have laughed if anyone suggested that Disney would base an entire land on a franchise. Now we have Carsland... all bets are off as to what they're willing to do to sell a toy.

This year hollywood land can be themed monsters land inc , next year it can be themed , the good dinosaur land , and the following year inside out land etc etc etc , I mean since its hollywood land and its hollywood, it can be changed every year and this is the way disney is looking at it to make a profit sad but true

But there is a substantial difference between putting up a few posters for a new parade... and 1 franchise taking over multiple attractions in that area (I'm thinking about Muppets, the Aladdin theater etc.)

I'm not talking about stapling up a few posters and having a couple characters dance around. I'm talking Monsters getting more attractions. Bugs has a land, Cars has a land, Princess and Faries both have their own "lands"... as painful as it sounds it wouldn't shock me if Monsters takes over within a couple years.

Carland did seem to make sense since California has had a long time affection for the automobile. I know that Iger picked the theme because of the huge toy sales they have. But I don't think Carland is a success because of toy sales. It seems to fit the California love affair with the car.

Now monsters in Hollywood is an other matter. While I think a Monsters Inc themed area could be very successful, it really is not a California theme. I would love it is the area was dedicated to a Mystery Mannor ride, rather than Monsters, as a old haunted house in Hollywood would fit better. Also then proximity to Tower of Terror would make that area the Halloween central.

i find it funny that MI is rumored to invade HL, although it's ride is the one that pretty much everyone wants to be replaced. Honestly, I'd rather have a frankenweenie attraction with the whole connection to classic monsters.

While I sincerely hope that this will not be the case, I think k peek may be right.

Although I dont think it will happen, I think it would be a great move for the park and resort as a whole if they did. But, it isnt all of Hollywoodland, just the backlot area. It is currently the worst themed land in all of the resort and would be transformed into a richly detailed and highly themed area. The could, and would find a way to loosely tie it in thematically, which I would be fine with. Then you have the rest of Hollywoodland to delve deeply into 1940's Hollywood and the entertainment industry of that era. I think we will eventually see a Hollywoodland expansion behind ToT and possibly taking over Bugsland someday.
Also, dont forget that DCA would be getting an attraction that fans of WDW have been clammering to get for years. An attraction that has had great inside buzz.
I would love it if this came to fruition.

I really don't want that area to turn into another Pixar Land. There's already enough Pixarification in DCA. If they want to put the coaster in, then take the dark ride out. Why should Monsters Inc get to keep both rides when Magic Kingdom had to justify tearing out the Snow White dark ride for a Dwarfs Mine Coaster?

While I like this, it's too slim of a market if they went that way. Universal owns most of the original Monsters, at least the well known ones. So they couldn't do a whole lot more if that were to ever happen.

You wouldn't want to take the family friendly Monsters ride out for 2 simple reasons. You would have 2 quality attractions in that area instead of only 1 and it is one of the best fantasyland style dark rides in the entire resort. Also, they wouldn't just be adding a ride, but converting that backlot area in Monstropolis. It wouldn't make any sense to take it out. The area would also incorporate a restaurant,Im guessing Harry Houssans, and a retail facility as well as retheming the entire area including the Monsters dark ride exterior. It realy is a good solution for that horrid area of the park
