I'm glad it's official. I think it's brilliant, as long as Disney leaves Pixar alone creatively and leaves Lassiter in charge. We'll see what happens to Disney's stock tomorrow....

Looks like we are still waiting for the acceptance from

All of the people briefed on the negotiations cautioned that the deal could fall apart at any time.

Several crucial details were still being hammered out Monday, including the employment contracts for certain Pixar executives, among them John Lasseter, Pixar's chief creative officer and a former animator at Disney, one person said. He is expected to oversee the animation unit that would become part of Disney's filmed animation division.

I'm glad it's official. I think it's brilliant, as long as Disney leaves Pixar alone creatively and leaves Lassiter in charge. We'll see what happens to Disney's stock tomorrow....

Stock price is about the same today as it was on Tuesday last week. It went up after the bell on Thursday amid a 4:49AM Thursday morning report, as did Pixar.
After the overreaction Pixar is up about $2.16 from last Tuesday's opening.

In other words, DIS and PIXR stock prices have reflected this deal for the past few days. Even the weakest version of Efficient Market Hypothesis holds here, as this information has been public for quite some time. And the idea has been obvious for years, only Eisner's presence had been holding it back.

Whatever guidelines Eisner set in motion for Disney animation is now about to be tossed out with the trash.
We won't see any more cheap sequels, only better ones.

Pixar will become either THE name or it will fold into the Disney Corp. Having two entirely different animation themes I'm afaraid won't work, most likely Lassiter and Jobs will usher in a new age of drawn animation AND computerized animated films, combined talents indeed will increase Disney's stock and create new ideas, rides shows and parks.

With Lasseter heading up Disney animation they have no-where else to go but up.

Question is ... is it still a "DISNEY presentation of a PIXAR film" or is it JUST Disney ...

My guess is when you are paying $7B for something you are keeping the name.

IF this is a done deal then with the upcoming release of Pixars "Cars" could this hopefully be the initiative to redo Autopia big budget wise?

Build smart cars that can interact with the riders also using some special effects borrowed from Inspector Gadget and Herbie, headlights that move for instance, use the same GPS technology that has been successfully applied at TDS and make the cars free roaming, it would definately be the rebirth or the start of a new era at DL. Hopefully they can also get rid of the gasoline powered engines.

To borrow a phrase from Doc Brown, "Where we're going, we DON'T need roads!" That's right! Autopia should be converted to a the worlds 1st flying car attraction!

IMO, if they are going to re-do the Autopia it should be totally ripped apart, moved to DCA and that space should be used for a new Disneyland E-ticket.

Heck, move the Subs to the DCA Lagoon and you have enough room there for 2 new E-tickets.

Oh wait, will Screamin' fall in the water if they drain the DCA lagoon???

HP, and to a lesser extent IBM are not going to be happy about this.

I think it's great for Animation, and if Walt Disney Feature Animation is treated as a seperate unit it should create many great and wonderful things.

However, it just doesn't seem right for Disney to spend $7 Bill on Pixar.... and I just don't like Steve.
