Re: Which DCA 1.0 Elements are Missed?

I miss the low crowds, that's for sure. Even though I don't agree with franchising everything to death, I have to admit that everything they've done so far is an improvement over what was there before.

I must say that I do sort of miss the bubbly, watery Paradise Pier music, even though I like the new music better. Oh, and I miss the sun face on the Sun Wheel and the Mickey silhouette on California Screamin'. That's something I wish would have stayed the way it was.

ETA: Oh yeah, and I second the Strips Dips 'n Chips! I know it's silly especially since we have Toy Story Mania there now, but man I loved those strips and all the different sauces. I agree, they tasted SO much better than the stuff you get at Stage Door.

I miss the Tortilla factory and Golden Dreams. I'm happy that we have Mermaid, but I think they should find a new home for Golden Dreams. If only Carthay Circle was a theatre as planned, they could have showed Golden Dreams and a Walt Disney biography film.

I miss when Screamin' didn't have that stupid countdown and just launched unexpectedly.

I miss this, too. I wish they would have continued this every summer.

Re: Which DCA 1.0 Elements are Missed?

I miss the old 3-4 star Vineyard Room. My favorite DCA memory was a wonderful prix fixe meal (seared halibut in a pureed pepper au jus, excellent antipasto appetizer, etc.) with a bottle of my favorite wine. We were just about to start dessert when the Formerly Main Street Electric Parade was about to start and our maitre d' moved us to a better table to view the parade. It was an amazing night, and no longer something you can do.

Don't really miss all that much else. I had a love for the old DCA but it was honestly more in a "Wow, I REALLY love the Cove and it's amazing how much easier the park is to appreciate after six stiff drinks" kind of way.
Credibility is to be sought for. Credulity is not. Sadly the latter is our normal human state.

the tortilla factory, an equipment-free bay in paradise pier, and the mosaic mural from the entrance. i really wish that could have been recycled somewhere.

Seasons of the Vine was a wonderful, relaxing, low-key attraction on a hot day if you wanted a place to cool your heels.

I'll agree on the tortilla factory. The plastic cups at Ghiradelli's makes it feel like a fake experience for the price compared to the glassware used at all other locations I've ever been to.

While I always thought of the Maliboomer as Tower of Terror with no theme, it provided motion where the current smoker's spot is just a dead zone in the park, and I liked the plane flying out of Taste Pilot's.

And finally, while I really like the exteriors of Buena Vista Street, the interiors of the stores are lame, in my opinion. Stores in the 1920s didn't have such big openings in the walls, which really destroys the theme inside. And, Engine-ear's Toys was at least unified as a toy store which isn't the feeling I get in any of the current stores.

"Hey there! This is the Maliboomer..."
    I do miss that spiel.
Also being able ride California Screamin' at night a few times. Not just once right before the ride closes for World of Color.

Enjoying the Pier all lit up in the evenings, the fossils in Condor Flats, the open bay filled with waves, and even Superstar Limo. Sure, it was bad, but it was original. They tried something. Monsters Inc feels lazy and uninspired.

This is a good idea, that is kind of a missed opportunity
