Yep, though I never understood why they didn't figure out a way to get it in the large area in front of the ticketing, to mimic the way it was placed at DCA. Off to the side/centered is a weird/odd choice.

The state fair opens this month, so I'm anxious to see these letters again! Was just at DCA/Dland and really missed seeing these there!

I worry about graffiti. This area is not behind any sort of gate and is secluded enough from the main street for someone to do some damage and get away quickly. I'm not sure what security is like around there at night, but I can't imagine it's being monitored at all times. And I worry that if it does get tagged, getting it cleaned up will take a whole lot longer than at Disneyland...

I'm glad they will find new life! I always liked the letters.

Yep, and not in a great part of town. Kinda dead when there is no activity at Cal Expo.

Yep. And this is why Sacramento can't have nice things.

I wish they would move them behind the gates.

Oh well, there never was a waiting line anyway.

What about the Capitol Building? Old Sacramento?

The installation was finished today, your suggestion might be a tad late.

The Capitol is in downtown and surrounded by restaurants, shops and the convention center.
Old Sac is a major tourist draw with shops and dining.
Cal Expo is bordered by the 99/80 freeway, some low rent apartments, office and health buildings and at night is not the best
    place to be alone.

I know that. But I think it was a silly decision to place them in the front. If folks here can steal Lance Armstrong's bicycle, burn down playgrounds, and be general miscreants, I just don't have much faith that these will stay in good shape for very long. I hate saying that about the place I live, but it's true.

^That. Plus, it's near the Arden Fair mall, a place that has some upscale stores but generally attracts a more ghetto crowd. During the holidays, many folks park in overflow parking at Cal Expo and take a holiday shuttle to shop at the mall.

I mean, the decision was made and they have been installed, but I hope they have a long-term plan on how to keep these fantastic letters in good shape for years to come. I loved them at DCA and hope that Sac can be a worthy owner of them.

I don't know. Why can't we take the view that by getting them tagged and graffiti'd over they are simply making them more representative of 90% of all public concrete surfaces?
    Woo! Spring is coming!
