Talking Differences in WDW Costuming and DLR Costuming?

I have often wondered about one set of characters between the two resorts, that each resort has its own version of these costumes, and i have no real explanation for it, that is for Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, Aurora's faires. WDW has these characters as furry characters, where as the DLR has them as face characters.. Does anybody have any idea for this difference?

Additionally, Are there any other major differences in costuming between the resorts? Which do you like better?

Duffy in Florida will sign autograph books, but the one in California can't.
My signature is NOT larger than my post, nor should yours be!

Disneyland and WDW are like Costco and Sams Club. They're both similar but they're both run in very different ways. I'm not sure why each coast does what they do but they sure have reasons for it.

It can be anything from casting issues to costumes that have been used in parades/shows getting used for meet and greets. for example the Fairy Godmother in the Asian parks is a masked character, mainly because its very difficult to cast an older women to work in an Asian park plus isn't worth sending a cast member over to play one character due to the higher cost of employing foreigners.

Also I think California uses the old Parade of Dreams costumes for Flora, Fauna and Merryweather? This happens a lot in Paris where Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Gaston all meet in parade/show costumes instead of their 'official' meet and greet costumes.

The Florida costumes contain more powerful air conditioners to keep the people inside from dying out in the ridiculous Florida humidity.

California re-designed these characters, and used a different costume for them for Long Lost Friends, compared to the parade of dreams costumes. The difference can be seen here; Name: tumblr_lmr1t7GsIP1qklzf8o1_1280.jpg

Oh okay haha, well I got that one wrong.

It does seem strange that different parks have different costumes considering most character costumes for all parks worldwide are made in Orlando

Okay, cast members are not the most reliable source haha, I'd always been told they were mostly made in Orlando

I think all human characters should be face characters. For one thing, it's probably less confusing for kids that way.

I agree with this completely!!! I do not know why so many characters have been made as masked characters. I take it, that it has something to do with so many of them are temporarily in the parks for a limited time to promote a new film, and eventually fade away. (Take for instance the Meet the Robinsons characters, or most of the Disney Jr. Characters, etc) and they would cast for those roles then they would have to move those cast members into another department or into fur after those characters go back stage to be stored forever.

However I do believe that the Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook, Smee, Pinocchio (Could be double casted with peter pan) and geppetto (he could easily be double casted with hatter), the list goes on and on...

I think comparing costumes over time is fun too. I don't have pictures, but the Mad Hatter change is one of the best. I sure hope they transform Jessica Rabbit from a masked character to a face character soon. Creepy.

Actually bayou guy, I was just looking at Character Central today, and I was very entertained when I saw that they even had a Jessica Rabbit Costume, and that it had the face that she did
