Re: Why does Toad's ride end in hell?

I always thought Toad was knocked out in his accident - leading to the nightmareish court sequence with the judge and all, then his trip through Hell. Kind of a guilty conscience/consequences thing.

Either way, I've always loved the weirdness of that ride.

In the film, Toad's antics and questing for bigger and better thrills cause him to have a near death experience, after which he recovers only to pursue even bigger and more reckless thrills.
In the Fantasyland attraction the same is true for the rider.
You enter Toad's world, go on a crazed adventure to where you experience the near death experience (the explosion and brief visit to Hell) only to escape and once again begin your own quest for bigger and better.adventures on exiting.
The ride doesn't end in Hell, it ends when you escape it and you return to Toad Hall.
That's exactly what I believed this was as well...it actually follows the film pretty well from Toad's (your) viewpoint.

So to me, it was completely in-line with the film and I've always loved it!

I never thought of that, but I like it, so from now on I choose to believe that going through hell is just a dream.

That's supposed to be Hell? I always thought it was I-5 at rush hour.

It seemed more Disney-ish than just dying and going to Hell

That's not what bothers me about it. I love Pirates and Haunted Mansion and those are darker rides. In the Tale of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, I love their telling of Sleepy Hollow and if they had a dark ride about that I would probably love it too. What bothers me is the changing of the story. I liked it the way it was with its crazy, silly, fun vibe. I take no issue with you liking it. I just don't.

If it was simply retelling the Mr. Toad story without adding scenes not in the movie like Hell then the ride would lose its originality and become more like Monsters Inc and the Little Mermaid.

I love those little devils at the end- favorite part of the ride! Now you guys got me worried the PC police might take them away

now I grew up LOVING ichabod crane and would be thrilled if I could go on that ride. I'm picturing a fiery jack o lantern hauled at me on that finale.

Precisely, retelling the story exactly as was presented in the film is redundant and is one of the main culprits why every new attraction Disney builds is boring and can't compete with these old classics. There are many other reasons as well, but if they were to come up with something original and creative, that would help dramatically.

Part of the reason why most of the newer rides need some sort of thrill element in order to stay exciting. Its certainly not the setting or the story that has me on the edge of my seat because most of it isn't allowed to be surprising. You'd think they'd do a bit more when making the world 3D.

I do have fun with Mermaid but Monsters Inc is pretty forgettable. I'd hate to think of losing Toad in California. Wish more small parks could try a stab at some Toad like rides.
