Why does Toad's ride end in hell?

Can anyone tell me why Mr. Toad's Wild Ride has him in hell for the last scene of the ride? For years and years I have never understood why they did this, instead of just sticking with the story of the Wind in the Willows, or even any other spin off of the story. I just don't get why they end the ride with Toadie (or us as the riders), going to hell. Seems extremely un-Disneylike.

    Because he wasn't baptized?

Remember the bulk of the film wasn't animated due to a lack of funds and/or animators, which was why it had to be packaged as a short with another short. The ride contains many of the original ideas that didn't make the film. The hell scene may have been one of the original ideas, or inspired by the original ideas, or created in the same spirit.

If you don't like the idea of hell, just pretend Mr. Toad smashed into the boiler of the engine he had a head on collision with, and you are merely viewing the inside of the locomotive.. The inside of trains are powered by little red people, a dragon, and a judge with horns, not steam and coal as most have come to believe.

The ride is more interesting the way it is. It's nice that it's not like the film, unlike Mermaid, which pretty much goes through the entire movie, and it manages to lack the charm Toad has.

Never thought about it before, but now you have me thinking. Maybe at the end of the ride there could be along with all of the little devils some of those Caribbean pirates who were chasing women... for what ever nefarious reasons pirates would chase women for? But not the ones who were just after the "food". Because those foodie pirates would never deserve to go to hell--- thanks to some enlightened person who saved them from their own swashbuckling evil selves.

Pardon my sarcasm, but it is an "amusement park" after-all.

This is a popular misconception. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride does not end in Hell. It actually ends on a resort bus with a Brazilian Tour Group ... and it just seems like Hell.

Yeah, Hell was never in the book so I have no idea why it's in the ride. On a side note, Guillermo Del Toro was working with Disney on adapting it in 2003 but had this happen:
In 2003, Guillermo del Toro was working on an adaptation for Disney. It was to mix live action with CG animation, and the director explained why he had to leave the helm. "It was a beautiful book, and then I went to meet with the executives and they said, 'Could you give Toad a skateboard and make him say, 'radical dude' things,' and that's when I said, 'It's been a pleasure
It appalls me how out of touch Disney can be sometimes.
“No worries, stay calm, one question.
Do you happen to know how to fly this thing?”

Re: Why does Toad's ride end in hell?

I too don't like or understand the Hellish ending to this ride. As a kid and a teen dealing with religious education, it really bothered. The one time I gave in and rode it with a bunch of friends, I literally got burned in hell when hot water from condensation or something dripped from the doors that swing open into Hell and hit my bare leg.
