Even if you didn't like the newest Oz movie go see Return to Oz and read the books and then tell me you wouldn't want an oz land at Disneyland. C'mon

For what it's worth lee Macdonald is saying this isn't happening and this was a dream project for Tony Baxter for his retirement but the toxic WDI said no way and shelved the project despite OZ doing very well financially and proving this is a beloved series with theme park potential.

Return to Oz was even worse than this latest piece of trash. It totally deviated from the source material. In fact, making Return to Oz was as bad of an idea as letting Schumacher direct a Batman movie.

Any Disney Oz land would be solely based on their new franchise, so no.

I'm having a very hard time believing this. I don't believe it at all, really.

Have you actually read the books or are you going off that Judy garland movie that deviates heavily from the style of the book

I have read the books. Return to Oz was based mostly off "The Land of Oz", but they changed too much of it when they made that horrible movie.

The only reason Oz is being built over by Big Thunder Ranch is because the new Star Wars racers ride is going in where Autopia is now. I have also heard rumors of Toowtown being used as part of the new Oz area.

Yeah, nothing about this post has a basis in fact. Sorry.

I don't like the idea of them DCA-ing Disneyland with a land based on a single film (or series of films). But, for some reason, if it absolutely had to happen, I think I'd prefer it being an Oz land rather than other possible options.

It's another way to secure their ownership of the property over WB. Creating a whole new beloved generation of Oz fans. The area would be based on the Books, which Disney owns, and influenced by the movie. If there were no sequel, Disney has the option to bring the stories through other mediums. There was a lot of money spent by Disney in the past few years to secure properties, properties to take them forward.

It's more of a mashup of Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz and it ended up becoming a pretty wonderful member of the "80s Animatronics-heavy Fantasy Movies That Traumatize Small Children Club" alongside Dark Crystal, Neverending Story and Labyrinth.

I think Oz land would be great as a land in the potential third park but not so much in Disneyland
