Bring Star Wars Days to Disneyland Please!

I was just reading about the Star Wars event they are having in May in Florida. Why can't we get something out here in Cali? We are closer to Skywalker Ranch and Hollywood, wouldn't it make sense? Would love to see them temporarily post Troopers (clone or reg) on the People Mover's track, put props and events in the are standby entrance area for Space Mtn, etc.

Disney planning people, clone the event, how hard is that?

Count me in! I have a few items sold at the Florida event but have never actually been to one. They really should have a similar event at DL.

Clone troopers in the park! That would be awesome! You could arrange to have them come "arrest" members of your group for being Trade Federation spies! Get the Republic Commandos to show up and haul off people planted in lines! Of course, all they'd have to do is have Natalie Potman show up, and I'd be happy.... Either that or Ray Park.

I would think DL could support at least a weekend or two of Star Wars. It would bring in the crowds and be a great event especially with walkaround Darth Vader, Chewbacca, etc.

Ray Park would be cool, even if not dressed up as Darth Maul. I would be very happy to kick half as good as he does.

Every time I read about Florida' s Millionaire during theit Weekends, they talk about how early you have to sign up, and everything I've read about it has made it sound like a huge big deal.

Now, the downside of this is park capacity. And I'm thinking Tomorrowland doesn't have the kind of venue that would allow for a gathering place.

This is another reason I'd like to see Anaheim follow DMGM's example and, rather than place the event in DL, put it in DCA. And, in support of that, also follow DMGM's example of having Star Tours move over to HPB, with a themed "set," probably Mos Eisley, and have a "soundstage" dressed as the cantina, complete with actual dining facilities.

I don't think that would ever be a reasonable option for Tomorrowland, but DCA is in desperate need of revitalization anyway. And, for that matter, Star Tours is in desperate need of some upgrades. Even if they used the same old film, if I'm not mistaken, Disney could do a complete mechanical overhaul on the technology. It's the kind of proposal that might entice Lucas to resume friendly relations with Disney.

A great idea. It would be a nice kick in the pants for DCA, and an opportunity to put something else new in TL. My only opinion is that I'd prefer Coruscant over Mos Eisley. Much more exciting atmosphere, with lots of possible little entertainment goodies. And where better for a transport/tour ship to disembark from?

I tend to dissagree, I think the soundstage theming messes too much with the ride, I perfer the travel theme that it has now rather then a dumb tacked on your at a soundstage pretending your going to travel but it's all fake approach

ontop of that DCA already has too many film attractions and another motion Sim isn't going to cut it for the park

I do agree that Star Wars days at DCA would be great but I don't want Star Tours moved

the only other way I can see it working though is if they placed the event durring the early parts of the year when traffic is pretty slow at the parks

or maybe durring the short slow period in the fall, but relize that that is the parks refurb time too

Well, I'll admit, I'm no fan of episodes 1 and 2, so my preference is to stick with Episode 4. If Luke can find the Millenium Falcon there, I don't see why our happy little tourist transports couldn't find a home there too. Besides, my "secret" plan is to keep the "sets" just general enough so that it could also potentially represent Mos Espa, and if Lucas likes what TDA does with the project, he might be persuaded to make a second film featuring the Star Speeder's unofficial entry into a Pod Race. Sneaky, eh?

I think a lot more people would feel a connection to Mos Eisley just because Star Wars was the first, and arguably the purest. And from what I've read, you could probably even still pick up authentic Phantom Menace set pieces in Tunisia. Okay, that part may be out of date. Still, I think Coruscant would work too so long as they threw in enough familiar droids and vehicle designs.

I love the idea of moving Star Tours to DCA, whether StarWarsDays followed or not. There's nothing futuristic about Star Tours, and it doesn't belong in "Tomorrowland." You do not imagine yourself in the future on that attraction; you imagine yourself in the Star Wars universe of movies. It's a MOVIE-based attraction that has nothing to do with OUR future. Put it in the Hollywood Backlot where it belongs. (Of course, Buzz Lightyear belongs there, too ... but that's another story; Ugh, they should just rename Tomorrowland and be done with it.)
