What do I absolutely NEED to do for my birthday?

Hi Everyone! This is my first post, so I'm sorry if I screw anything up!

My fiance is planning on taking me to Disneyland/DCA for my 30th birthday. It's not my first trip there, and it'll certainly not be my last, but it will probably be the last one we go on without kids of our own.

So, aside from making sure we see all of our favorite rides (which should be pretty doable, since we're going the first week of December), what should we do to make it extra-special?

    Thanks!

First week of December - hit Haunted Mansion Holiday and It's A Small World Holiday

Get a gingerbread cookie that's been dipped in chocolate (only part of it) so heavenly

If they don't do the Private Christmas Parties (and that's a big if), make sure you see the Christmas fireworks and parade, so worth the effort spent on it.

Get your picture taken in front of the Castle when it's lit up at night, as well as in front of It's A Small World lit up at night. Also in front of the Christmas tree on Main Street USA

Experience the snow on Main Street U.S.A.

Get a birthday button when you arrive

Visit Carsland lit up at night for Christmas, ride Radiator Springs after dark

If you can spring for it, dinner at the Blue Bayou, or a character meal.

See World Of Color with the holiday makeover

See the Billy Hill and the Hillbillies Christmas Show

Walk through Toontown decorated for Christmas

Get a candy cane from the Candy Shop on Main Street, they are hand made each day and incredible, get one early.

Get a Mickey Santa Hat or a Jack Skellington Christmas hat

Do the expensive stuff now because it will just be that much more when you have a few kids. Stay in a theme park view room at the Grand Californian and watch the World of Color show from your balcony. I haven't done the Fantasmic dessert buffet since they moved it from the balcony of the Disney Gallery, and I've heard mixed reviews, but if you've ever wanted to try that, now is probably the time.

The birthday button and Napa Rose. There is nothing in Napa Rose to interest a child. Even I switch on my grownup self for Napa Rose.

The Tiki Bar sounds fun, too, even if not for drinking, as opposed to the Tiki Room which I KNOW is fun.

My husband regularly took me to DL on my birthday, even though he was a curmudgeon about it. Please sneak in a few extra snuggles in his memory while you are there and enjoy!

Thanks all for the tips! I'm jotting them all down .

I looked at the prices to stay at the Grand Californian...sadly with a honeymoon earlier in the year, we just can't fit it into the budget. All the rest sounds completely doable, though!

Snuggles will definitely be had .

    Happily...with a honeymoon!

You will have happily blown your (financial) wad for the year!

The Ten-Year-Anniversary at Grand Californian will be well worth saving for...

Very true! I may be able to convince the Fiance of that, too .

Well, you'll need to be with your fiance and pile up the memories. Take along a good camera to shoot pics and videos of as many memories as you can. BTW, that camera will come in handy when you take your first child to Disneyland.

A big thing that will become INCREASINGLY difficult once children inter the picture is moving briskly around the resort, getting in early and leaving late. Kids require an entirely different pacing than adults. So take advantage of that. Open the parks and close them every day. After Fantasmic has ended for the night and crowds have left, finally enjoy a quiet nighttime stroll by the Rivers of America.

and you may want to completely avoid riding Dumbo, because once kids come along, that will become a MAJOR priority for them, and it will be hard to avoid.

As others have said - take advantage of the finer dining options like Napa Rose, Carthay Circle, or Blue Bayou while you don't have to worry about a fussy little one!

Definitely get a birthday button. That's a must!

Spoil yourselves while you still can!!

Edited to add - visit Trader Sam's!! It's not especially kid friendly seeing as how it's a very small bar. Even if you don't drink, order off the non-alcoholic menu and enjoy the atmosphere. It's one of our favorite parts of the resort!

I'll echo the Napa Rose suggestions but add the tip do call ahead and make reservations for the Chef's table and do the Chef's tasting menu. It's 3 hours of culinary bliss, for all your senses!
