Last week, I received the following e-mail message:
Don't know if you got my first attempt to email you, so thought I would try again. I was doing some research for my mother's memorial service and stumbledupon your site. You see, my family was very much a part of the history of thehotel. I have not got your book yet so I don't know if you know about them.
My grandfather, Jimmy Lenti was the first Matri d and banquet manager at thehotel. He was there from the beginning until 1963. I am not certain, but Ibelieve he had met Mr Wrather when he was working at the Palladium inHollywood. I do know that he had met Bonita there because I have pictures.
My mom also sang at the Gourmet during the sixties. Originally it was with hertrio, The Dorise Van Trio, but she had a very long and successful run with agentlemen named Bill McClure and they were known as "The Two of Us."
All of us were fond of the Wrathers as well as Mr Werder. I have several photosof banquets at the hotel, some with Mr Daly and some with Bonita and one of mygrandfather shaking hands with the ambassador from Lebanon!
I myself worked at the park from 1967-71(Sunkist on Main St and Sunkist IPresume across from the Jungle Cruise).
Just thought I should contact you and see if you would like to use some of theinformation or photos. I really am enjoying seeing all this history.
Thanks so much,
Kris Van Hook
Since this e-mail, Kris has sent me many pictures from his families affiliation with the Wrathers and the Disneyland Hotel and I wanted to share those with you all. I just love receiving e-mails like this!!
