Talking Had my first Splash Mountain Walk-off yesterday

Yesterday my wife and I could not wait to get back to the DLR, and yesterday just happened to be the first day back from being blocked since mid June with our So. Cal AP. Long story short, we finally made our way over to Splash Mountain around 4p.m. or so. We elected for the Single Rider Line since we were pressed for time. While in line, I had given her my phone to hold since she brings a backpack, with zip lock baggies. She boarded a log, and then about 3 logs later, I boarded. All was well, we made it up the first lift hill, and then cruised around the top area, passed Brer Bear, and right before we dropped down Slippin Falls we came to a stop at that little gate that allows you to drop down. About a minute had gone by, and the gate didn't release to drop us down...this seemed odd. About another minute had passed when we heard our first recorded message of something along the lines of; "hang on folks, we have experienced a log jam, please remain seated, etc." Well, we hung on for a few more minute, and then got another one of the recorded messages. Well, even more time had gone by and then we got the live message from a CM to remain seated and wait for a host/hostess to come to our logs and escort us off the ride. I was pumped, this was my first Splash Mountain walk off! Then the reality hit me, I don't have my phone to record or take any pix of this experience!!??!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!! (i know they frown on filming the backstage stuff, but the CM didn't request that no video or pix were to be taken)

So we waited for a total of about what seemed like 10-15 minutes before a CM was able to help unload our log. Our log was the last one to be unloaded in our section. There were about 4 or 5 stacked up behind us from what I could tell. I couldn't really see if any wrapped around the bend that was on the other side of Brer Bear. I was the last one out of our log since I was seated in the very last seat, we then followed the CM down the stairs than ran parallel to Slippin' Falls, then went through a door into one of the scenes (I believe the sign on the door labelled it as "Bog 1") with many animatronics. It was a little eerie because they were still moving, but there was no audio to accompany them. After that we kept cruising down a few more stairs, and through one more door until we were on the ground level, back stage. There isn't really anything too fancy to report back there, as we made our way through the large wooden gate, a CM handed us a Readmission Pass. The pass is my only proof that I got to do a SM walk-off, haha.

After the thrill of that wore off, I quickly thought, ohman, how am I going to find my wife?!?! Remember, she was 3 logs ahead of me (and had my phone), and she walked-off through the Bog 1. We both ended up finding each other after a minute or two of wandering around the exit area. Since we were pressed for time, we ended up heading out towards the exit and never ended up using the Pass.

Here is my only picture of proof it happened,

It's always fun walking off rides (that is if you're a frequent parkgoer). I'm just waiting for that time to walk off of Radiator Springs or Indy.

I pray for a walk-off everytime I get stuck riding Jumpin' Jellyfish.
"You can cut me off from the civilized world. You can incarcerate me with two moronic cellmates. You can torture me with your thrice daily swill, but you cannot break the spirit of a Winchester. My voice shall be heard from this wilderness and I shall be delivered from this fetid and festering sewer."

So cool!! We make frequent trips to DL, but have never been experienced a single walk off. I suppose this is a good thing, but Id really love to be walked off something cool just once. Congrats!

I've never experienced a walk off despite being stuck on several rides. I got stuck on Buzz Lightyear one time for what seemed like 15min but we were just told to remain seated and eventually it started moving again.

I've been stuck on Mr. Toad, Star Tours, Haunted Mansion, Little Mermaid, Small World, and Indiana Jones. Never been walked off. *knock on wood*

About a month ago I was lucky enough to get walked off of Radiator Springs Racers. The ride stopped when the car I was in had just left the starting line of the race. I was in the right lane car. They had us exit to the right side of the car and not wanting us to cross the track at that point they walked us single file back through Ramones paint shop and into the town. They had laid a steel ramp across the track center slot at the point just before the track switch. Now on the left side of the track, We continued out through Luigi's Tire Shop. As we passed the other car that was next to us, those people exited left and joined the line. We walked outside along a walkway to the left of the track to a point near the first banked turn after the start point. We exited the attraction at a small gate next to City Hall where it joined the regular exit. We were given single re-entry Fastpasses not the usual up to 6 people re-entry you would get on other rides. It was the best place to break down and I enjoyed the walk through. I went back later and the ride ran well.

I was walked off from the top of the Matterhorn (as high as the bobsleds go, anyway) which means we rode down the tiny elevator, walked through the empty center and out the side door. Pretty cool riding the elevator, but somehow I wish my Matterhorn mysteries were still intact.

In the hundreds and hundreds of times I've been to Disneyland, I've never experienced a single walkoff. Even though I've seen all of backstage, I've never actually walked through a ride before. Lucky you!

I've been waked off Space Mountain and Pinocchio within two hours of each other haha. The best part about walking off Pinocchio? Getting to take closeup shots of the animatronics. I've never been so close to Pinocchio before in my life haha. Splash Mountain and Pirates are two that I've always wanted to be walked off of. Can you imagine? Just, the fact that there's so much water around you, it's awesome. I'd love walking through HM though. That'd be a dream come true.

I've been stuck in Pirates long enough that I *wished* we could walk (or wade if necessary) off. The only one I actually have done is back from Peoplemover days - we got walked off from the Circlevision tunnels where we'd stopped, out a door in the hallway and down to the exit door on the back side of Tomorrowland Terrace facing the Matterhorn.

Blue hallways. Nothing but blue hallways.

Some good stories in here, thanks for sharing them.

    I can't believe Big D has never experienced a walk-off!

Many, many years ago I also experienced a WO on BTMRR. It shut down right as we started climbing the hill before the goat. We exited to our left out of the cars, and I remember walking through a tunnel or two, then down some stairs and eventually to the regular exit path.

We've never walked off a ride at all. I think it would be cool, but in some ways, it might lose some of the magic too. The closest we came to a "walk off" was during Captain EO this past July. It started up, had a nice film, but no sound. Somehow, EO with no sound....just doesn't cut it!

That's awesome. I've only been walked off twice in the years I've been going, once on Space Mountain and they had to turn on the lights so we could see the entire thing, which was AWESOME...then a few years ago on the Autopia, though we were only still in line, so we didn't get to see anything fun, but we did get the pass.
