    Golden Zephyr is down Indefinitely

According to Paradise CMs the Golden
Zephyr has had a mechanical break down and the attraction has been down for the last 3 weeks while they wait for the part. They expect to be reopen in Late October. The yellow rail was installed along the outside which is used every night for maintenance but is being left up will the attraction is closed.

I saw it listed on the "Closed Attractions" sign at the gates on Tuesday, so two (2) people have noticed.

I'm glad they're not mothballing it yet (hopefully). It's a simple experience, but it's also a rebuild of a classic ride of which there are not many left. Kinda like the Fun Wheel - whatever was going wrong in the heads of those making the calls for the final build of Paradise Pier, they at least approved a few attractions that are nearly pieces of history on their own.

Count me as one who still loves the Golden Zephyr. Can't help it.
"In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations, the new needs friends." - Anton Ego

I only rode it once last September, but I thought it was fun. I hope it doesn't get taken out.

I've been on this once and don't plan on ever going back on it. This doesn't bother me one bit.

I'm not a fan of the Zephyr; but I really like the Pier (NOT the original lol). Now I think its one of the better lands in the resort, right there with Carsland because of its variety in attractions and atmosphere.

I honestly adore the Zephyr. No, I don't go on it much, but still it's a working piece of history. It's the last working attraction of it's kind in North America!

There are times when I wonder if somewhere in the section of Imagineering that Pressler was willing to listen to there was an Amusement Park Historian lurking. Man apparently had no real imagination, but he signed off on a VERY significant pair of attractions with Zephyr and the Fun Wheel.

Now if they'd have thrown in a Himalaya or Noah's Ark instead of another set of shops...

I disagree. IMO it's one of the best rides at CA. Relaxing with a great view of the lagoon. If I only go on one ride at CA, it's always this one or the ferris wheel.

Re: Golden Zephyr is down Indefinitely

I noticed it was shut down every time I walked by it when I was there a few weeks ago. I just thought it may have been closed temporarily for wind or some weather related issue and I just had bad timing that every time I walked by it was closed. I still had a fine trip without it, but it would have been a fun enough way to kill 5 minutes while waiting for a fastpass to be usable.

I love the Zephyr! As others have said it's a little bit of history, but besides that it's really fun to fly out over the water.

    I think it's time for a Rocketeer re-theme.
