I think that link may not be correct..

This might be the right one:

    http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blo...ni-expansions/

The author also confirms that the stove and party lines will be incorporated into the new Starbucks.

They do plan on keeping the pot bellied stove, checker board and party line phones.

Both the pot belly stove and the party line phones will remain in the converted Market House, most likely to be in the Book Rest seating area. The Imagineers have also created some new party line conversations which I have heard are rather hilarious!

The checkerboard is still under consideration at the moment.

We've tried to keep a checkerboard on Tom Sawyer Island for years. It comes and goes, mainly because the checkerboard pieces are stolen within a day or two.

But every few years, as new managers cycle in and out of their positions, the latest perky new manager will say "Why don't we do a checkerboard on the Island again?" and they order some old-timey looking equipment off Amazon.com and it lasts about three days. Then they re-order some replacements, and a few days later they are gone. Then the senior managers complain that the Rafts team is spending too much money on checkerboard junk and the idea dies. For a year or two, until a new manager shows up and says all perky and cutesy "Why don't we do a checkerboard on the Island again?". Rinse, and repeat.

The same will be done for the new Starbucks. And since the new Starbucks Market House on its first weekend will be far more busy and popular than Tom Sawyer Island has ever been in the last 58 years, the checkerboard pieces will only last about 12 hours and then they'll have been stolen. Rinse, and repeat.

It would be best if they didn't even try to start a checkerboard thing at the new Market House. That way, people online can't complain about it when it's gone after the first day.

Great post, and so true! (I vote we start a petition to encourage Westsider to write a book when he retires, if not sooner!)
