Finally got to Disneyland about 1 month ago. Sorry this trip report is so late, but work has been busy (working 7am to 6:30pm on the first 2 days is not a good homecoming) and I've had less energy lately. I was also dealing with Achilles tendonitis all summer and hadn't even recovered 100% when we went on our trip.
First, there are a couple things to get out of the way. My sister was pregnant with her 5th child and was admitted to the hospital in mid July. The amniotic sack ruptured and she was put on bed rest in the hospital since the baby has a heart defect. My sister and brother in law had to miss the trip. He was born almost 3 weeks ago at 4lbs 3oz. They just moved him to Phoenix Children's Hospital where he will be having a surgery soon. He'll have a total of 3 by the time he's 18 months old, but this will give him a life expectancy of at least 30 years. Good luck to my little Lorenzo.
I'm not going to go into detail, but as you can see, I visited the grave of Travis Alexander. This was the day after his birthday. You've seen this in previous trip reports. I'm sure many Mice Chatters watched the trial on TV this year. I'll go ahead and let the cat out of the bag. I was his roommate at the time of his murder in 2008. If you're interested, I did go on Nancy Grace in May (just look for the story in the May archive for her show on HLN TV).
Now that we're past that, let's go to Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Knott's Berry Farm. Be prepared as I post a bunch of photos and videos. In case you're wondering, the camera I've used the last couple of years is a Kodak Play Sport. It takes photos and video in a widescreen aspect ratio. Not that great in low light situations, but when there's plenty of light, it's decent. The video setting I use is 720p 60fps.
One new thing to me this year was experiencing Disneyland from a wheelchair. The Achilles tendonitis really left me in pain as trod along on my feet the first 2 days, so I rented the wheelchair on the 3rd day. While I know Disneyland is an idealized world, the cast members were nice. They tried not to leave ADA parties waiting too long to board an attraction. Some of the video clips you'll see are from the ADA areas.
