Nothing compares to Disneyland after dark and your photos represent that incredibly well. Amazing rare shot of Toon Town after dark as well!

Re: Disneyland And California Adventure After Dark

Thank you all so much for your kind words and glad these were enjoyed! Really, I've got a huge pile of after-dark photos that are just terrible and unusable as well, no good at all - it's just repeated efforts, finding the right spot, a solid surface or small tripod, and yes, luck to get the shot 'right'. These were taken on all different trips and some might be the only halfway-decent or good photo from an entire evening of shooting, in some cases. I will post more doubtless when find ones worth processing, but no 'set timeframe' on that. Thank you all again!

It's about an even split - some are when areas were closed off/after the announcement yes, but also on many off-season nights, areas just are pretty dead in the hour or so before closing (ToonTown, Big Thunder Trail), some do have people in them but only a few or in the distance (Christmas castle, teacups, Main Street and castle wide view, Cars Land wharf entrance), and some I just waited patiently for the right moment when a group walked out of frame.

An amazing testament to passion and persistence with glorious outcomes. Just like Walt Disney intended.

I too lament the passing of Carnation Gardens. It fit with the turn of the century theme, recalling the open concerts in a small town. Always very lively area. In turn, a great place to sit and watch people.

Awesome pics. I love/hate DL at night. I love the sights but hate the crowd control. love to stand or sit and absorb it all, but unfortunately always being pushed somewhere beacuse of fantasmic and/or fireworks. Sometimes I think these shows ruined DL after dark.

My rough strategy - for the fireworks and first Fantasmic timeframe, get on the Tomorrowland side and have free access to walk all the way through and do things over to Small World area, then (as is normal operation, access been limited last few trips) use Big Thunder Trail before the showing of 2nd Fantasmic, if there is one, to access New Orleans Square/Adventureland and will be far less people if you time it right. Main Street or main Adventureland/Frontierland route will just be a mess.

Maybe because it represents a "proper" Tomorrowland
