Since Disney just underwent a management shake up. Im banking on the idea that they are going to browse around the disney fan sites and see what kinds of things fans want. So I made this topic so we can discuss how wonderful a new Star Tours could be in the hopes that it stays on the first page and someone high up in Disney sees this.
As long as they dont change the Chime, and that Hillarious Hairdo in Pre Show, I'm happy.

I am cool with them updating the ride in some fashion as long as it is still thrilling and, most importantly, makes sense (aka, no podracer overlay or something equally stupid (speeder bikes, this means you)). Then again, I'm not holding my breath for it, but it would be welcome.

Went to Disneyland today. In Tomorrowland... no lines at Star Tours. Poor CM at HISTA looked bored and lonely. These two attractions need major attention ASAP!

All Disney has to do is give Lucasfilm the go ahead and the update will be done.

However I've also heard that Lucafilm apparently wants to do more than just update the ride film, but also the speeders by replacing the old film-based system with all-new digital projectors.
I absolutly LOVE when Admiral Ackbar reaches back to slap the person who uses flash photography. I LOL every time I see that!

Right now, with the film based system, if something has to stop the ride they need to wait for the film to cycle through. There isn't a rewind button. The film goes from the back of the speeder around it in a sort of circle.
With a digital projection system (without film to worry about) they'd have a lot more control over the ride.

This ride needs a serious refurb. We were riding it on Monday and the screen cut out twice to black like it was going to fail. Not the usual at all. I hope that something is planned for the future.

Those vibrations and creaking of metal in the middle of the ride aren't too fun either.
