Save the Court of Angels Petition

Long time follower, first time poster! Just wanted to throw this out to the community since I could not find a petition for the court of angels so I went ahead and made one.

    https://www.change.org/petitions/dis...for-public-use

Let me know if there's anything I can do to improve it or have suggestions. I want to use the power of social media and put it to use to at least let TDA know that some of us are not okay with the closing of the Court of Angels at Disneyland for the Club 33 expansion. Thanks all!

Message on Petition that I need help with:
The Court of Angels in New Orleans Square at Disneyland in California will be permanently closed to the public for the announced expansion to Club 33. This is one of the few special nooks in Disneyland that still exist as a getaway from the crowds and the opportunity to soak in the magic. It is an important spot to me and to many others, there is not much of a public outcry or petition that I could find. Please let your voice be and and lets use the power of social media to get it done. Please leave the Court of Angels open to the public and not for the privileged few. Thank you.

I like the idea, however I don't know if you have the right approach on how this petition should be carried out. I think there needs to be a little more reasoning and suggested options within the petition that Disney could see and interest them enough to change there minds. As of now the plans are being set in place and worked make the current expansion happen. Give them some reasoning for why it would be better to change the plans they have in place and give them an idea on how to allow the court to be public and the new entrance to be private. Also explain the importance of the court for the entire public visiting Disneyland. Until then I don't think this petition holds enough ground to be signed. I want to see the court public in the future, and I hope you can work to make that an option. Best of luck.

Thank you for your input. I am not the best statesman out there, so if someone could help me reconfigure the petition that would be fantastic. I can then update the petition to reflect what the community as a whole is really trying to say. I just saw that no one has done anything yet and thought I'd throw it out there at least and then modify to those who are better statesman than myself.

I believe that would be a great course of action, I believe MiceChat is just the place to help you get ideas. If people post to this form there thoughts on how the petition should be reconfigured, i believe we will get diverse ideas from the community you can use to formulate a good argument.

I'd like to sign but it just requires too much info.

    Good luck.

I love how you just jumped right in there with this. I agree that it probably needs a little more explanation and description of what would be the suggested compromise but I think it's great that you did it!

I've followed the community on micechat for quite some time now and knew this was my best place to turn to.

I am an electrical engineer by trade so writing is not my forte (I know I know, I work on design documents all the day long).

They may have made the decision, but it they can at least open the gate during hours when there are no members to check in and have it open for everyone again.

They could, but I doubt they will. They don't have the current lobby open for non members during hours they aren't open.

There's got to be someone out there who could write a knockout message.

Any petition speaks of patrons desire to keep or change something. To be honest there isnt lines out the door to be in the court of angels and generally this is how Disney Executives gauge the necessity of an attraction. While I personally think it's a waste of space, I encourage you to make your voice heard and carry out the petition. Good Luck!

The Court of Angels in New Orleans Square is welcoming, quiet, and beautifully themed. It lends an additional verisimilitude to Walt Disney's crowning achievement in the park. It provides a respite from the crowds, allowing the guests to recharge and regroup during their visits. The loss of this beloved court would signal the wrong message to the loyal fans of the park, who hold Disney parks above their competitors because of Disney's attention to detail and theme. Without these quiet, beautiful, MAGICAL places, the park debases itself to the level of an amusement park. Walt Disney, a true visionary, wanted something better, something more immersive. Your decision will have an impact for many generations to come. Make it a good one.

I like it! I'll try to incorporate this into the petition itself when I get a chance. I've been trying to come up with points that will make it more succinct and to the point. I want it to look something like this:

    1. Clear purpose
    2. Clear objective
    3. Listed reasons for sustaining the action'
    4. Suggested alternatives.
    5. Conclusion

I realize they have already "made the decision," but I still feel we can at least make the voices of those who still want the court of angels around for the public to be heard. Even if it doesn't change anything, we can at least say we tried.
