    Disneyland Hotel Lifeguards Early 70's

I just had the opportunity to scan several pictures from a former Disneyland Hotel executive. This one is of the Hotel lifeguards from the early 70's and was taken for their annual race with Disneyland cast members around Tom Sawyer's Island. From what I hear, this race was very competitive and Hotel staff was not too enamored with Disneyland staff and vice-versa. Remember, this was when the Disneyland Hotel was not yet Disney owned. These guys look pretty fit!

I even found our 50's friend in this picture below. I don't think this guy owned any shirts. Note, the other two lifeguards in the picture have their shirts on.

Funny you should mention that. Disneyland employees were not allowed to have mustaches however, it was ok at Wrather/Disneyland Hotel. I would almost bet that was also a source of contention between the two groups.

Oh yes, the '70s were a great time to be a single gal. Ah, TanyAnnette and Meville, the stories I could tell! (If I wasn't afraid my husband & sons would find out!)

Thank you for this. I read further that Mr. Slater did recover from his accident, thank goodness.
