Cool Post your favorite Grand Californian Hotel and Spa pictures.

I know some don't like the Grand, but we love it. Post some of your favorite pics of the hotel. Hope I'll see some unknown corner of the hotel I've not yet glimpsed in some of the pics.

I'll start with a few snapshots from this past May.

That hotel is so beautiful and majestic! I've been in the lobby and walked around several times over the years but have never stayed there...yet. I love sitting around the fireplace.

I'm a huge A&C fan and would love to do their "Art of the Craft" tour. I would trade in my 1920s Tudor revival and South West Territorial homes for a nice A&C bungalow.... one of these days..

Same here! What I wouldn't give to live in a bungalow someday. I think A&C and Art Deco are my 2 favorite design styles..

Ooooohh... deco.... drool... a fair amount of my furnishings, and a quarter of my art/archictecture library is devoted to deco. The Hollywood Mansion Hotel is like sensory overload for me pegging my deco meter at overload.

This is such a beautiful hotel. The lobby is one of my favorite locations in the resort, especially if I can be there while someone is playing the piano.

A great idea for a thread. If I can dig up any of my photos, I'll gladly contribute.

Tower of Terror? I melt every time I'm standing in that queue listening to the eerie, echo-y standards music and absorbing all the design details. Honestly they should do a hotel like that on property.

Yep. Just re-read my post and see I said Hollywood Mansion Hotel (must have had Haunted Mansion on the mind). Meant Hollywood Tower Hotel (tower of terror). Its deco-ness is pure decadence. I've even taken pics in the gift shop of some of the deco features. I seriously love deco (even used decodence as my UID on other vintage sites).

Nope, but I've admired it from many a page from my architecture books. Sadly, our non-Disney travel is still a ways off. The kids are still young, and won't appreciate actual travel for a while. Coupled with it being LESS than pleasant/relaxing traveling with children. Our oldest did accompany us to the Biltmore Estate, but it made for a RUSHED experience.

Re: Post your favorite Grand Californian Hotel and Spa pictures.

I stayed at the Grand Californian a few years ago for my 18th, with my bestie, and I WAS NOT impressed. I recently moved to Socal, and I used to live in Norcal, so when i would make my annual trip to Disneyland on my birthday, I would stay at the Disneyland Hotel. (Which is soooo worth the money). I gave the Grand Californian a try, and I don't know if they were having an off week or something, but the place was PACKED, wayyy too many screaming kids, they messed up our reservations TWICE, and honestly, I wasn't that impressed with the décor or anything they offered. that was a few years ago, and maybe its better now, but for the price they demand to stay for only one night, I really wouldn't wanna stay there again. Just my opinion though.
    "Who's she?!?"
    "Oh her? Oh, that's Wendy!"
    "A girl?!"
    "What's she doing here?!"
    "..and in her nightdress too!"
"...We were only trying to drown her..that's all."

I'm actually quite surprised that the lobby furniture is so understated. They could have gone really Mission there but didn't. Those green chairs look like doctors office appropriate. But I also understand you have to look at furniture in terms of traffic and how many people sit down and how much wear is caused.
