I don't mind if they just leave Tomorrowland with its "retro" look. There's really no changing it unless they demolish the entire land and rebuild it from scratch. Painting over existing structures trying to give it a "Star Wars space port" look won't work. The land was designed a certain way. Since 1998, the land on the move has come to a stand still. The People Mover is gone. The Rocket Jets are gone. The Skyway is gone. Also, they fixed the Tomorrowland Terrace stage by removing that hideous "Club Buzz" sign and making it look like it used to. They don't need to go messing around with it again.
One way to avoid having the Tatooine cantina in TL is to rename the TL Terrace or Red Rocket Pizza Port the Tomorrowland Cantina.
I just hope that the Cantina is only planned for WDW. I don't buy that people would be satisfied with just any Cantina that has the same band. People want to be able to see the exact same Cantina and interact with some of the same alien characters. That's the whole point of this new push to bring realistic recreations of film locales to the parks. They've seen how well that's worked with Potter and CL and they're going to keep doing it, like Disney usually does, until well after it has already begun to fail.
I dunno, I think replicating the cantina, and having that song play, from A New Hope is perhaps over-exposing Star Wars a bit too much. That's why having 'inspired, but new' attractions like Star Tours is better.
I read the new Miceage article on Star Wars/TL and it is not the direction I was hoping for. It is what I feared, changing TL into Star Wars Land instead of Tomorrowland blended with Star Wars. Here are my complaints/rant and then I'll finish up the rest of my idea later.
I already talked about using Tatooine's cantina in TL (above). I never wanted a specific location (Tatooine) because it should be Tomorrowland
Don't like how the Astro Orbitor/Rocket Jet is going to be place on top of Space Mt.patio. It will block Space Mt. I thought the roof of the Magic Eye Theater could not support anything beside people, table, and chairs. Like alot of other people, I wanted it to be back onto the tower.
Don't like how the Millennium Falcon is going to replace the tower, I think it could have gone where the Cosmic Wave used to be. I was not thinking about having any SW spacecrafts/vehicles that visible for my idea.
Don't like the Speedbikes to Endor replacing Autopia. I wanted it to go through TL, on the same path as the PM/RR. What is going to happen to the route? It is going to become wasted space that should have been used. I never wanted this version of Speedbike in TL. Is the whole Innovention space going to be used up just for queue and loading? There should be show rooms or one or two additional attractions at the site. Two attractions getting removed and creating wasted space just for one attraction is not good. I never wanted a specific location (Endor) because it should be Tomorrowland .
I like the Monorail loop, don't want it to go. I thought there is a certain amount of space that the 2 Monorail needed to be. If the loop is taking out, the number of zones decrease. So will the Monorail need to stop at a spot for a long amount of time until the TL station is clear?
The Mice Age 11-26 article said the Star Wars/ TL plans are now "On Hold", I think Disney should reconsidered what kind of SW they put in and how to use it in TL. TL's theme should be Space Port/Futuristic city/Technology/Space Travel. Endor and Tatooine are alien planets but the environment, imo doesn't work in TL. I don't like the MF as the Weenie of TL, it should be a version of AO/ RJ. Also I don't like the idea of taking out the Autopia and Subs. I'm ok with altering and updating it but don't take out attractions with long histories.

Everyone needs to understand ... in the Star Wars worlds - Kamino, Otapah, Corrascant, etc, ... all the buildings in those worlds are ONE color. A shade of gray!
Why would anyone want Tomorrowland to become one shade of gray?
That's depressing! I don't want that.
As evening descends ... it would take on a dark, moody tone. Like Blade Runner.
This is "Walt's Original"
The "HAPPY Kingdom in Anaheim."
And whatever is done with Tomorrowland .. needs to take on a "happier" aesthetic ... to go with the "happier" tone of surrounding lands, and icons from those surrounding lands ... to all blend into one "Happy Magic Kingdom".
I'd personally like to see a slightly grungy, yet vibrant tomorrow land. Futuristic street food, slightly seedy atmosphere, but with the disney family friendly touch. Like a look into how the common people and aspects of the world would deal with advanced technology. Sort of like the city from pacific rim. A tomorrowland full of real world life and energy. Obviously cleaned up a bit.
It would allow for the sort of conflict, narrative, and versatility that TL has never had with its squeaky clean, sterile vibe. Its the sort of vibrant atomosphere that makes NOS and FL great. Star Wars sort of fits the bill and would give TL a set universe and history to work with. Its not a perfect future or a completely ideal future, but it would be an exciting and interesting one. The whole "hard facts" part should apply a bit to TL in my opinion.
