I vote show. There are enough dark rides in that area, not to mention plenty of space from Innoventions/Subs to the Small World Mall for future demolition. I think they should focus on DCA as the target for new dark rides.

I'd rather have a show, but not Magical Map. A dark ride would just add congestion to that part of the park. Having a mass capacity show really helps move the flow of the park. We won't ever see a ride in that part of the park unless they do something major with Toontown in the coming years.

Keep the variety coming.

Even though I said I'd prefer a ride, I do agree with your statement about variety being important. That's something that I think needs to be enhanced.

Or the Motor boat area.that's big enough for a new Dark ride (when they make autopia smaller too)

It would be cool to get a California version of New Fantasyland. They could turn the theater area into the Be Our Guest Restaurant and a new Beauty and the Beast dark ride. Maybe they could find some way to expand Mr. Toad into a indoor/outdoor trackless ride as well! I could dream!

ORWEN: I'd rather have a stage show because the park already has plenty of rides and nobody should begrudge a stage show to those who love them because that's just being too selfish. One stage show in a park full of rides isn't going to hurt anyone. So spread out and make room for us show lovers. There's enough room for everybody and it's already a win-win situation for all.

There are multiple stage shows at DLR, Not one.

I would welcome anything in the area that would knock down that humongous tent, which is so out of scale it peeks out from behind the castle. It's my vote for ugliest thing in all the Disneyland Resort.

As for stage shows, I wish they'd use the Festival arena again, with the "theater-in-the-round" setup they had for Hunchback. Much more immersive than the theater show that's there now.

you could redevelop that whole area if they were willing to take out the theater IMO make it way more utilized. More than one Dark ride probably.

I wouldn't mind the stage going away. A forested Fantasyland expansion could be nice, but I'd like to see something other than (or in addition to) a simple dark ride. Or split the area - use half for a Frontierland expansion (along with Circle D) and half for Fantasyland. A forested area could transition nicely into cowboy territory so they could have another connecting path back there.

And while they're at it, give Toontown a renovation and connect it to the aforementioned path so its no longer a dead end.

I never even thought of that. What a great idea. The Pooh ride seems out of place over in Critter Country. Fantasyland would be a better setting. Reinventing the Pooh ride into a Bambi dark ride would make more sense for that area since it's forest themed.

Personally I think the show should stay, but they should focus on doing what they did with the fantasy fair, and change up what the featured show is depending on the time of day/season. A villainous magical map would be a wonderful thing to roll out at some point, though I'll agree that the current show is a bit limited, and I can see why some people may not really like it. Overall though, I think it does something important in that it gives something where people can rest up a bit from all the lines, and be entertained.

I'd rather have the motor cruise area renovated for a new ride, or put a new dark ride in DCA.

Re: Would you rather have Mickey & the Magical Map or new Dark Ride in the area?

ORWEN: Well, there might be multiple stage shows at Disneyland but only one MAJOR stage show and that's what I thought this topic was about. The two minor stage shows I can think of are: 1. The one next to the Fantasy Faire and 2. The one in Tomorrowland which features rock bands and other things every now and then but those two are so minor I don't think of them as stage shows in the same way I do when thinking about Mickey's Magical Map. What I'm saying is Disneyland needs at least one MAJOR stage show for guests who like that sort of thing. it's nice to be able to sit down for a 30 minute show with fantastic special effects and good musical numbers. Especially on a hot day it's nice to be able to do that. It's also a good excuse for Disney characters to show off their talents to us character lovers.

I say rides. Would love to see a Fantasia boat ride in the area or something which uses the sinbad small animatronics to tell a new story

I love having more shows and entertainment in the park, and think the FLand Theatre is a great venue. Mickey and the Magical Map isn't a perfect show, but it's very fun and I'd like to keep it around, please!
