Favorite restaurant outside of the DL Resort

Hands down my favorite restaurant outside of the resort is Marri's Pizza. It's an Italian restaurant on Walnut and Katella. I discovered it when I was a CM. Our department used to order like 20 pizza's a night from them, and I know we weren't the only ones. I think that the restaurant makes so much money from delivering pizza to Disneyland that they basically just do whatever they like with their dining room regardless of cost. On the outside, it looks super sketchy and I'm almost uncomfortable leaving my car in the parking lot. But then you walk inside, and it's this really nice Italian restaurant with fountains and marble and a very nice staff and absolutely outstanding food. They also have some pretty cool pictures of the construction of Disneyland. Every girl that I've ever dated for any significant length of time I've taken there. I don't know if they still do it, but they used to have free limo service from any Disneyland hotel to their restaurant. It's really second only to the Blue Bayou in my opinion in terms of my favorite restaurants in Orange County.

Not really a restaurant, but there's a place called Joe's Italian Ice down on Harbor. My friends kept telling me about it and we went on our last trip. Amazing. They have about 20 different flavors of Italian Ice and another dozen flavors of ice cream (that they change out daily). Then there's a delicious creation called the Joe Latti where they take any flavor of ice and layer it with vanilla softe serve. My mind was officially blown.

I know exactly where that is. I've never stopped there because it always has a pretty long line out front. It kind of reminds me of the line for Pink's Hot Dogs in LA.

I like the strip of restaurants on Katella at Garden Walk (BubbaGump, PF Changs and Cheesecake Factory) more for sentimental reasons then quality.

    Captain Kidd's!!!! Mmmmm, good eatin'!

    Just kidding.

Anyway, I know this is probably not a popular choice but I like Tiffy's. It's just a simple family restaurant but I have a lot of fond memories of the place and I love their turkey BLT with avocado.

For something a little closer to DL's main gate, I prefer Mimi's.

My favorite place by far is francolis. It is the best Italian place I have ever had. Everytime we are down there we go to it. It is on Champman down in a circle. It is about 5-10 min from Disneyland. If you ever get a chance to go there I always recommend it! Not only is it amazing food but also amazing service!

Best Pizza and subs is without a doubt is Cortina's Italian Market and Pizzeria. They are a little drive from the resort, but their pizza and subs are out of this world. They slice all their deli meats to order and make their own bread. They hand-make their own pizza dough and sauce as well as their own sausage and meatballs. We visit them at least once a Disney visit and buy an extra pie to have the next day, its that good. We also make trips up to Anaheim just to eat there.

They have two locations, with the Anaheim being the one we go to. The location has been closed a bit as the repair a fire they had but they will be open in November 2013 and we will be back on our November trip this year. We have been chomping at the bit to eat there again. Not to mention we go next door and can purchase a large variety of imported Italian items in their deli along with their home made breads and meats. Want more info them, check out their Yelp and Travel Advisers reviews. They were recommended to us by a fellow hotel family when we were at the parks for Thanksgiving 2011, thank you Castillo family!

I tried this one Italian restaurant south of Disneyland on Chapman called Carolina's. My friend took me there and it was really good! The outside is quite ordinary, but the inside is very nice and the walls are painted as if you were dining in a Tuscan landscape. Also, they took some inspiration from every Vegas casino that painted clouds on their ceiling, haha.

Fire+Ice Grill is quite good as well : )

Oh, also want to mention Pizza Plus (not sure of the location). My friends and I wanted pizza one night and we ordered and had it delivered to our hotel. We got a large pizza, order of hot wings, salad, and a two-liter soda for something like $22. Wings were super hot and the pizza was delish (the crust was nice and bready, my weakness!).

Other than Downtown Disney, where we at at House of Blues (which was fantastic, btw) the only places I've eaten are McDonald's, IHOP and Mimi's. Can't really recommend IHOP or McD's but Mimis has really good food, good service and ginormous portions.
