I'm also in the "neither" category, but I voted for Tron nonetheless. Way more appealing visually. YUCK on the SW speeder bikes...

If that's what they go wtih (The Vekoma bike coaster style) then I doubt I will ever go on that kind of ride. So I guess I vote neither, since a Star Wars speeder bike would probably be the same setup.

I still say bring back the Rocket Rods and just bank the turns. That was the only thing wrong with that ride. Name it something else, but it COULD have been a lot of fun if it had been done right and it keeps the visual kinetic energy in Tomorrowland that it's missing so much right now. And at night, on the very rare occasion that the lights on the car worked (I remember it working once for a solid week and then that was it) the ride looked very cool in the same way that the Tron light cycles look cool. The only problem is that the queue is now the Buzz Lightyear ride, but I'm sure they can figure out a way around that.

Star Wars easily. Will have a longer lasting and greater overall appeal imo.

Re: Given a choice - Star Wars Speeder Bike or Tron Light Cycle?

Sing to the music of America Pie/The saga begins

    A long, long time ago
In a Theme Park down the way
    Tomorrow was under an attack
And I thought me and that guy named Spree
    Could talk the Company into
Maybe cutting them a little slack
But their response, it didn't thrill us
They shuttered doors while still billing us
We extracted new subs free from gas
Then met Marlin, Dory and some sea bass
We took a Monorail in the very front car
But it broke down over Monster Stars
We all wound up at the Uva Bar
That's where we found this guy...

Oh my my this here very sad guy
May be sober someday later but for now .. heavy sigh
And he left his mark without being very shy
Sayin' "Soon I'm gonna lose my minds eye"
"Soon I'm gonna lose my minds eye"

Did you know this vanguard brave
Isn't even afraid to sell his grave
But he can tell a story, they say
Ah, do you see him steering the Congo Queen
Greed and decline no where to be seen
Yeah, this kind of magic will never decay
Well, I know he stood for imagination
And no doubt he was huge inspiration
But others were not as noble or true
So we suffered a major setback or two
Up their sleeves they had an ace
And the minute the company made dollars their case
Trading plush toys and pizza for the Space Place
Everyone new it was no longer his park

    We started singin' ...
Oh my my this here very sad guy
May be sober someday later but for now .. heavy sigh
And he left his mark without being very shy
Sayin' "Soon I'm gonna lose my minds eye"
"Soon I'm gonna lose my minds eye"

Now in spite of all their many vaunts
The old timers who knew better would want
To see how good the park could really be
So we left him there to tell the tale
How his minds eye kingdom went off the scale
Might he share it with someone from Yale

Oh, the board was impressed, of course
Could he bring em in without using the Force?
    They entertained the thought
    But spending they could not
Because the Street was filled with trepidation and fear
And stingy was the cheif cashier

So something from a long time ago
we'll be the standard both to a fro
no risk taking we'll be our woe

    so we sing'...
Oh my my this here very sad guy
May be sober someday later but for now .. heavy sigh
And he left his mark without being very shy
Sayin' "Soon I'm gonna lose my minds eye"
"Soon I'm gonna lose my minds eye"

We caught a ride back to the Sub Lagoon
    'Because fan boys wanted to
I frankly would've liked to stay
We rode the new forest bikes of Starwar
And it wasn't long at all before
the ride broke down one too many times a day
And in the end just like the tide
The park became a Yogi Berra joke and died

A lot of folks were bored and mopin'
The tired droids were funnyless and broken
And the Theme Park I once admired most
Has eleven Starbucks that smell like burnt toast
Walt is gone and so's his ghost
I guess I'll have another beer

    And I was singin' ...
Oh my my this here very sad guy
May be sober someday later but for now .. heavy sigh
And he left his mark without being very shy
Sayin' "Soon I'm gonna lose my minds eye"
"Soon I'm gonna lose my minds eye"

if we didn't already have star tours... I would say star wars... but the tron light cycles just seems like the PERFECT crossover ride and with the starcade as a possible exit or entrance you can complete the theme with the tron arcade!

If you don't - Then the next time Tomorrowland is remodeled, you will see a land barren of any "Peoplemover" type attraction.

I feel like I totally missed the whole "Tron" thing.

Beside the nostalgia of the original movie, is anyone really that into Tron? I just can't imagine any Disney real estate being devoted to the franchise.

The ideas for the speeder bike ride doesn't sound to promising though.

Between these two choices, the light cycles would win. I would rather see a Sugar Rush attraction though. Design your own Kart in the line ala Test Track 2.0. The ride would be an actual race with 8 or so other vehicles. It would have real competition, allowing for items to be thrown from your kart to make others spin out. It would be essentially real life Mario Kart... on crack.

But they are interested in devoting real estate for it, in Shanghai China!

Unless things have changed for Shanghai DL's attraction line-up ... that is what's apparently reported for their Tomorrowland.

So .. if it's good enough for the Chinese ... it's good enough for America.

(Giving this poll slightly over a couple weeks to stay on top, after that .. I'll just let it fall into the abyss.)

Re: Given a choice - Star Wars Speeder Bike or Tron Light Cycle?

I voted TRON. I actually really like both Star Wars and TRON (in chronological reverse - love the old Star Wars, can't stand the new; don't care for the original TRON, very much like the new movie), but as others have mentioned, I'd like to dilute the whole "Star Wars Land" thing as much as possible. I can understand management looking at all that empty space, then looking at their shiny new franchise, and thinking the obvious. I can even sort of see how it could be good. But a total conversion? Changing the name? That's sadder than any of the sad, stupid choices Disney management has made, ever. I seriously hope it won't come to that. Major Star Wars expansion? Not my first choice, but OK. Star Wars Land? I think I'll be visiting Orlando from now on.

Not that I seriously think they're going to do either, mind - demolition of the peoplemover track seems far more likely.

    Voted SW RotJ speeder Bikes.

    Why?

ever since I first saw them... I wanted one. Still do. And if a ride is the closest I get to having one...

    no brainer.

Re: Given a choice - Star Wars Speeder Bike or Tron Light Cycle?

Personally, I'd like to see the TRON Light cycles over the speeder bikes. To me TRON fits with the Tomorrowland theme as it takes place in the future. Star Wars doesn't belong in Tomorrowland as all the movies takes place "Along time ago in a galaxy far, far away". That's from the first line of most, if not all, of the Star Wars films.
