Credibility is to be sought for. Credulity is not. Sadly the latter is our normal human state.

Otherwise, I'd say Cleveland fans. No matter what sport you're talking about, the team in Cleveland sucks. That's just a given. And yet their fans are some of the most dedicated, die-hard fans in sports. It's easy for me to be a Steelers fan (maybe not so much this year) when they've won more Super Bowl's then any other team, but the Browns have never won anything, yet I won't hesitate to admit that the fans in the Dawg Pound are more loyal than any Steeler's fan. In fact, watching a game in the dawg pound is actually on my bucket list.
Have you seen Brazil fans? They travel FAR better than the English, and I can attest to this personally as I've been to World Cup Games and seen Brazilian fans COMPLETELY DOMINATE a stadium. Not to mention that not only is Brazil the greatest country in soccer/football history (by far), as the great Pele said: "in Brasil, all we have is soccer." He said this after talking about how the country can be suffering from a corrupt government, increased poverty and unemployment, but if Brazil wins the World Cup than everything is fine.

As far as American sports, I'd say Red Sox fans are the most fanatical and widespread.

    Star Trek fans.

Star Trek fans have a history of longevity since 1964
It has inspired countless of people to become scientists, doctors and many to work for NASA.
There are still huge conventions being held worldwide. First one was in 1972.

    Examples of Dedication:
Several non-profit high end fan made webisodes with full scale sets. The current one is this. Its the best one yet.
Star Trek Continues - Space: The Final Frontier...
I don't what other fan base that creates the kind of fan made content like Star Trek fans. Not to mention the actors love the fans back and many have appeared in fan films.

A fan converted his apartment in to his own Star Trek themed living quarters.

A fan bought a TV model for half million+

You can never run out of imagination. The more you use, the more you gain.

Dr. Who fans, there's honestly no comparison. These people eat, sleep, live for Doctor Who.
