Buying New iPad with my Disneyland AP Fund

I decided that I will not be buying an AP in 2014. I save $70 per month to buy my AP but since the new iPad is coming out next month, I am going to use the AP money to buy the new iPad.

I will still check in from time to time to see if Disneyland is getting their act together but I am not going to be going to the parks very much in 2014 without the AP.

We all get to make our choices, and live with them.

Your $70 savings is really more than that. If you factor in parking, gas, and eats, you could probably have a car payment with the savings.

Check other "Walking Internet Screens" (just made that up) before committing to the iPad.

There are a million others like you that need to be convinced. No, not to purchase iPads.

These are the times for down to earth budget decisions. We're probably gonna renew once or twice more and then make that choice. There's so much else and prices are going up just as well. Maybe enhance our entertainment options, like weekends away, going to zoos, going to a few sporting events, attending live theater, concerts, putting away extra money into the savings account for retirement, and so on. Disney's attitudes about profits and their recent business decisions (DAS, privatized Disney holiday seasons) are way out of control.

Will it be an iPad mini or just a regular-sized iPad? Either way, enjoy it! My dad has a regular one and my mom has the mini. Both are cool, but I like the mini more.

I'm saving my DL AP renewal money for spending cash when I go to New York this winter. Super excited!

Re: Buying New iPad with my Disneyland AP Fund

I think that all of us (unless we're rolling in it) will have a financial breaking-point where it's just not worth it to us anymore. It isn't right or wrong, just the way it is.

Disney is entitled to charge what it feels the market will bear, it's not a charitable institution after all. And we are all entitled to decide when the prices they charge are just not worth what they are offering.

I'm not there yet, but I'm sure that someday that day will arrive for me. As it stands I can afford my Disney fix, for now. But I won't go into debt or do without for it. That will be my breaking point.

PS, I really love my iPad. I don't know how I lived without it!

I'll probably get both. I need a new iPad and my pass expires in January.

I gave up my AP last month, and although the cost of an AP won't pay for my trips, I'm going to try to visit DL Paris and Japan instead. I'm planning a trip to London & Paris next year, and the cost of my AP will more or less cover a 2-day ticket with a 1nt hotel stay (not at the DL Hotel though) at DL Paris. At some point, I am going to make it to Tokyo DL and DisneySea, but I don't know when that is going to happen yet.

Re: Buying New iPad with my Disneyland AP Fund

I've had an AP since 2008 but am considering possibly not having one (or at least stepping down from premium). For one, I moved out of OC in March after getting laid off, and I've only gone three times since then. The drive is quite far for me to go very often in my gas guzzling Mustang. And two, even when I lived 20 minutes from the parks, I still was only there once every couple of months or so. Then I have the price increase to factor in.

Oh, and I have the iPad with retina display. It was totally worth it. I'm sure the new one will be even better. Enjoy!

Definitely consider other tablets than just the i-Pad. We just bought my hubby a Nook HD and it's great! I've got an older Nook, and it works for me, though it's clearly not as nice as the newer ones.

I'm priced out of Disney, too.

I hope you enjoy your new tablet, which ever one you choose!
