Re: Third Gate name game: What would you call it?

That's a good point - the same attractions that would drive interest in DLR whether in Disneyland or the new park - would bring in more merchandise revenue if it were in an all new park.

How about Disney Galactic Oasis ?

I read somewhere on here and I think on other unofficial Disney sites (Jim Hill Insider, Theme Park Insider, etc) that Iger had previously talked about a third park and it being Marvel heavy. My impression was that none of it was "official announcement" talks, but also that it was more than just speculatory discussion as well.

In any case, I hope we get the 3rd gate sooner rather than later, and that it turns out exciting and awesome.

That's my feeling as well, glad to hear other people with the same enthusiasm.

Whatever they call it, it will probably cost $150 for a one-day, one park ticket by the time it's built.

There should be a sticky thread called "This Day in Disney History." The company has a long history and this would be a good way to acknowledge it. Walt was born 112 years ago; that's quite a chunk of American history and culture.

Here are some of my more fun suggestions...

    Disney Ultimate Marvel Park (DUMP)
Disney Romantic Universes and New Kingdoms (DRUNK)
Disney Adventures in Remarkable Kingdoms (DARK)
Disney Original Paths of Exploration (DOPE)
Disney Roads of Exploration and Cosmic Kingdoms (DRECK)
Disney Institute of New Galaxy Exploration (DINGE)
Disney Romance and Adventures of the Beyond (DRAB)
Disney Ultimate Park of Expanded Dimensions (DUPED)
Disney Realms of Exploration in Alternate Dimensions (DREAD)
Disney Intergalactic Realms and Territories (DIRT)
    Disney Outer Galaxies (DOG)
Disney Interstellar Star Wars Marvel Adventure Land (DISMAL)

Or, perhaps you'd prefer something more cynical?

    Disney Acquisition Replication Kingdom (DARK)
    Disney Orwellian Park Experiment (DOPE)
Nice! Or if it's a water park, Watergate.
or Under Supervision of Staggs & Rasulo (USSR)
or Co-opting Honorable Iger Now Accomplished (CHINA)
or Teenage Wasteland (Iger can pay The Who 4 billion for Disney to own this song.)

Disney World of Adventure is a good one. Super open ended and could do anything with.

WESTCOT!!! That would be amazing but would probably never happen. Maybe they will take a look back at something more like this: Disney's America - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It would be cool to see a third park in Anaheim but i think they will be focusing more on renovations at DLR. Reason they may be focusing on a new park though is because of the over population and crowds we are seeing in Anaheim. A third park could help with that . . . or make it worse haha

In all seriousness I'd rather see them spend a billion or two dollars giving Disneyland a facelift and modernizing the rides (esp. the animatronics) then build a 3rd park, no matter how awesome it is. At WDW, it seems like the newest parts are well maintained but much of the older, original sections (Future World in particular) are severly neglected, and I'd hate to see that happen at Disneyland.

Except that Disneyland already has more than a day's worth of attractions and is consistently FULL. Moving down the street would open up more room to experience the new attractions and would make guests think they need an additional day to explore just the new attractions aka the new park.

Didn't a MiceAge article this past summer or spring say that TDA plans to update the Fantasyland dark rides, and a big part of that was installing the newest animatronic technology? And it was all supposed to be geared toward the 60th anniversary of the park, or something to that effect. My assumption was that all this was going to get done, along with the Monstropolis crap at DCA, then 3rd gate plans commence.

Oh I don't expect them to do that for the reasons you mentioned, but that would be what's on my wishlist. I'll be happy if they just add more parking before a 3rd gate opens up. New hotels would be nice too, but there's enough non-Disney hotels nearby that are pretty good (Sheraton and Crowne Plaza in particular) so I can live without those.
