    Ride Closures

I'm so sick of the ride closures at DLR. I feel like I'm not going to get to ride anything I want when I'm there. Even Space Mountain--I'm not going in it set up as Ghost Galaxy.

I just noticed the Carousel will be down the whole time I'm there according to the DLR Website. Not only one less ride--it's quite the eyesore covered up like that.

I believe they need to cover it up like that for the safety/health of the guests.

They may also cover things up so it doesn't ruin the illusion; its one thing to see a ride covered up, and then have it "unveiled" post refurb, and another if I'm strolling through the park and see engineers painting, drilling, etc.

I was disappointed with some of the refurbs on our recent trip, but the way I look at it is that sometimes its cosmetic, and sometimes its to ensure an enjoyable and safe ride for everyone. I'd rather the tea cups be down for a few weeks so they're safer when I ride them again.

Refurbishments are necessary to keep the attractions looking in good shape.

Refurbishment's are necessary to keeping rides looking their best.

What's so wrong with Ghost Galaxy?

    I actually prefer it.

Are you complaining more about the holiday overlays or actual refurbishments?

You don't want children to see what they do to those horses during refurb.

I'm with you. We did Ghost Galaxy 5 or 6 times last month. I liked it better than the regular ride.

I actually don't mind the refurbs, of course I am not visiting during these and there seem to be more than usual but I think heck at least they are doing them..and for that I am thankful.

Sure, it's a huge letdown when you go to Disneyland and your favorite ride is closed to refurbishment, holiday overlays, breakdown, etc. (or worse, a TON of them are down all at once), but I would rather they were taking proper precautions or upgrading what's needed. I've been there when rides were getting their holiday decorations on or off and yes, it's a bummer. During my next trip, Haunted Mansion, It's A Small World and Big Thunder Mountain will be down, but I'll live. The only thing I will not accept is when a stupid guest does something stupid to get the ride shut down and ruin it for everyone else.

Is the Entitlement Virus spreading at a rapid pace?? gasp

I welcome the refurbs.. if it weren't for that, we'd be at WDW's level of maintenance.

I completely agree. My take is that it they are a necessary part of going to a theme park. If everything was open all the time, and they never took the time to fix it up, the attractions would fall into such a disrepair. That is what is happening at WDW, and many of the attractions there are in pretty bad shape. Refurbishments may be inconvenient, but they are needed for Disney to maintain its strong position in the industry.

Are you sure Haunted Mansion and Small World will be down at the same time? I thought they staggered the closures so that only 1 was down at a time.
