I know exactly what you mean. I still head off to Tomorrowland first only to be stopped by a wake up check each time. It felt like the future, you didn't have to ask if it was futuristic enough, it just was. The problem now is they put something in and then tell us how we should feel about it.
Stalking is when two people go for a long romantic walk together but only one of them knows about it.

They could do so much more to make it feel futuristic. Start by removing that awful rocket ride and boulders that just muddy up the entrance. Give us a reason to once again run to TL.

I loved the old Disneyland; no matter how much the defenders of the current park argue about it, the park just doesn't have the same feel it did in the old days.

There is no doubt about it.
I worked at the park from 1975-1982. Space Mountain was built in a previous backstage area right across from the old men's locker room (yes, we changed clothes on site) so I saw it built from day one.
Disneyland, and Tomorrowland, was at its best in the late 70's when BTMRR was built. Maybe a few years later, too, when Indiana Jones brought another big attraction to Adventureland.
But Tomorrowland was best. Movemement on so many different levels, as previous posters have reminded us. I wish they hadn't taken out the Carousel of Progress but I came to love America Sings even if it didn't fit the theming. Let's not forget the "Circlevision" Theater and "America the Beautiful".
And to tie it all together, those beautiful Mary Blair murals.

I've said it before. The Tomorrowland of Yesterland is far, far superior to the Tomorrowland of today.

It didn't have to be this way. So sad.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Tomorrowland is kind of like the MSEP. They were immensely popular, but ultimately done away with. We were promised a better one and Disney didn't live up to it's promise.

    Re: Remembering when..................

1979 morning flight to LAX than a bus to Anaheim:

    1) Disneyland Hotel room on 9th floor Marina Tower
    2) Mazies Pantry for Lunch
    3) Monorail to Disneyland.....all of the energy and action(Motor Boats, Autopias, Peoplemovers, submarines, skyways, rockets) as we crossed the berm into the Park made me know that this was indeed the happiest place on Earth.
    4) First ride...Submarine Voyage..cost=1 E-Ticket.
    5) Second ride....Peoplemover..cost=1 D-Ticket.
    6) Third attraction....Circlevision..cost=Free.
    7) Main St. USA....my first view of Main St. was from the North end.
8)Exit the park via Main St. and took an actual Tram back to the Disneyland Hotel(That's right; back then the folks at Disney gave their guests two choices of easy transport into the Park unlike now where guests at some of their hotels don't even have one choice)
    9) Swam in the cove pool before coming back to Disneyland for a ride on the Railroad...cost..1-D ticket. After going all the way around stayed on for Frontierland Station and New Orleans Sq.
    10) Had dinner at the French Market.
    11) Parents dragged us into this building, which at first looked like it was going to be some boring show or something.....then we saw the boats. Pirates of the Caribean is still our families favorite attraction...cost..1 E-ticket.
    12) What better way to ride the Haunted Mansion for the first time than at night?...cost= 1 E-Ticket.
    13) Jungle Cruise.....cost= 1 E-Ticket.
    14) MSEP

First day at Disneyland still burns brightly in my memory.

    Re: Remembering when..................

I remember getting on Pirates of the Carribean about 5 months after it opened. The line was about an hour long but the buzz among the other guests was incredible. The wait didn't seem an hour but just a few minutes. The waterfall in the dark was breathtaking even though you couldn't see it but you could hear the roar. This was the best experience I ever had riding on an attraction for the first time.

    Re: Remembering when..................

I was walking to Adventureland and there was a parrot at the Tiki Room that was talking to people as they walked by. It was so neat to see a bird that even though we knew it wasn't real, it just captivated us.

That was a long time ago, and I guess they stopped due to the bird causing huge traffic jams. Anywho, it was still something to behold!
