    Finally! Some maintenance for Splash!

Was at the Parks today and saw that scaffolding had gone up around the showboat scene in Splash Mountain.
Also, the row of AAs that has been dormant for what has seemed like months is now covered by a sheet. If I end up taking a trip back tomorrow, I'll be sure to get some pictures.
Interesting to see a project like this take place while the ride is still open... I guess things aren't as simple as just removing certain AAs to fix them. Possible due in part to being compliant with OSHA regulations? I'm sure they're trying to fix it up the best they can w/o taking it down as the holidays quickly approach. Thoughts?

Well, kind of strange the ride remains open during this. However I think it's better they fix it now and have some construction work visible for a short time than leave it broken indefinitely.

It's needed work for too long. Hopefully it doesn't stay under scaffolding and sheets for long.

Yeah we saw that yesterday on the showboat. Really looked weird.

It's not the first time this has happened. It's maintenance and that is a good thing.

So which is worse. The lack of maintenance or the visible maintenance?

During the busy season, hard to make a call to shut down a popular ride for a specific area.

Ugh, hope they just fix it soon.

Not going to complain because at-least they're doing something to fix it.

Back in the good old days it was easier to maintain rides because the park closed two days out of the week. Later, they would close down a ride to perform maintenance. Now it seems like they just don't care anymore. Especially now that this ride is nearing its slow season Disney could close it for a few weeks. But at least it's getting some TLC. It's just better if they closed the ride altogether to do it.

    Bad show!

C'mon, someone had to say it. Glad it's getting fixed.

True. That was back in the day when Disney had maintenance specialists for the individual lands and rides, and enough of them on staff to keep rides running up to spec -- instead of a small pool of general maintenance people who are stretched too thin and budgeted too cheaply to fix things on a timely basis. Back in the day when Disney maintained a stock of spare parts and switched them out before their life expectancy reached the end, instead of waiting until something breaks and then requesting a replacement -- and then waiting until the beancounters approve the cost before they can even order it.

Back in the day when Disney cared enough about show quality to spend money on a standard of maintenance that makes today's standard a pathetic joke.
