The Golden Horseshoe is BADLY in need of real entertainment

I can not figure out how such a unique and special place like the Horseshoe continues to have
just the same old lame comedy show as entertainment.

When the Billies were there I visited a few
times every visit. Their music and brand of comedy was very well suited for this venue. Now we
make our way back to the Big Thunder Ranch so we can see these wonderfully talented guys. I won't
even go into the travesty of Billy Hill being "retired". That's a whole other post.

But why oh why can't they get some real entertainment for such a gem like The Golden Horseshoe?

Before the Billies there was another legacy act, Slue Foot Sue’s Golden Horseshoe Revue, featuring Wally Boag. At the time, it was well loved and a huge favourite.

If Disney can replace the Billies with another huge success, then we have nothing to worry about. Take the great memories from this great show, while we make new ones with whatever comes next.

A new show such as Slue Foot Sue and Wally Boag would be wonderful.

Between the two there was also the Golden Horseshoe Jamboree, which was apparently more the basis for the recent Salute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue than the actual Golden Horseshoe Revue.

Re: The Golden Horseshoe is BADLY in need of real entertainment

Like so many others, I'd love to see another show like the Golden Horseshoe Revue (or Jamboree) come in. However, my biggest concern is that they won't put anything of value in there. I'm at the point where I feel that is the most likely scenerio.

Only issue is would it be the same in this era of PC and everything at a 5YO level for entertainment Disney?
When they did the short run of a tribute show, there was already mumblings from the use of "can can" girls.

Never mind is innocent fun they fits the setting... but hey, we can't do that anymore.

I'd personally love another "traditional" Golden Horseshoe Revue in...

We'll probably end up with some horrible Disney "magical" type show... which fits in Fantasy Land, not in Frontier Land.

They should make it where all kinds of up and coming comedians can put on Western acts.

I could see doing the play tests on occasion but not something I'm interested in. I want to watch some good entertainment. Something with music is my preference.

I have a sliver of hope that the powers that be will come through with a good show appropriate for this special place.

I do not believe the system behind these play tests is anywhere near ready for widespread usage. It'd be a shame it Disneyland closed off the Golden Horseshoe to all but a few.

    Doubtful, sadly.

I've been told by people who've been on the stage that there's not a lot of space behind the backdrop, which would make the rotating stage difficult. Plus, even if they reworked the show to utilize a single stage setup without changes they'd likely need to excavate a pit under the stage - or at the very least rip the holy hell out of the space - to install the animatronics and control mechanisms. It might possibly be cheaper to bulldoze the original structure and rebuild it for the show, but at that point I'd much rather they simply retake their original home.

Well, according to MiceAge, most of the decisions for things like that are made in Orlando, and at WDW, the Diamond Horseshoe is closed most of the time and only opened for special occasions. So I sadly suspect that will be the fate of our beloved Golden Horseshoe as well.

I would definitely love another Revue. Of course, the original can never be repeated.

Yeah but don't they have the HOOP DE DOO REVUE at Fort Wilderness?
