    Re: You've just boarded Pirates...

When I was little, for a long time I thought those were AA people just like the ones later on the ride...so I guess its safe to say that for me, it has always been a cool part of the setting

What a feat of engineering that would have been

Looking over and seeing the restaurant used to be part of the magic for me, part of what made it special, helped with tone-setting.

I don't know if it's just my bad luck or if I'm crankier now than I used to be, but the past couple of years it seems like the bad behaviour brigade has gotten more numerous. If I have three idiots behind and in front of me who start talking about the restaurant the second they see it "oooh, is it super expensive" "ooooh, is it hard to get a table there" blah blah blah, it puts me in a bad mood the rest of the ride. (partly because it means I've got loud talkers in the boat who do actually ruin the rest of the ride yapping, and partly because even if they shut up once we're out of that room, I spend the rest of the ride anticipating, are they going to talk about everything they see?)

I remember my first day at work at the Blue Bayou. It never occured to me that I actually did not know where the entrance to the restaurant was because I always glided pass from the attraction point of view. So at my orientation, I asked that question. Embarrassing.

It isn't just you. As a fan of both POTC and the Blue Bayou, I noticed the bad behavior brigade starting to happen in the mid-90s, and increasing in frequency, loudness and rudeness in the early 2000s.

Strangely coincides with the rise of the AP program, and reality television, no?
