if they did it during those two months, it would conflict with the closures of

And not saying it is not going to happen (or that it doesn't need it) but there has been nothing official at this point saying this is going to happen.

I rode Indy on 1997, I believe.. And it was amazing. So intense, actually, that I hurt my head on the front steel bar during the boulder scene, I was sure it was going to hit me, so I ducked. It was nothing like today's version... The stuff dreams (or nightmares!) are made of.

I rode it the year it opened and felt the same way. The boulder scene was downright terrifying (at the time). You literally felt like you had to duck.

At this point, the ride needs a Thunder Mountain length of refurb.
They gotta do something, because the narrative just ain't there. Last time I rode it, it felt like it was a drive down thirty miles of bad road, not a thrilling amusement ride. There was only one "Oh, WOW!" moment on the ride (the faux poison darts) and a minor bit of "Neato" when you go into the main chamber, but other than that, nothing. The doors didn't work, the boulder was uneventful, and you never got to really stop and orient yourself to what was happening because you were being shaken so much.

The good news was, there was no one waiting the entire day so we literally RAN thru the line.

I wonder if that means they expect to have Big Thunder open by 3/04?

The refurb schedule has it closed through January 31st. If that sticks it should be open way before 3/4 on 2/1.

Given that they just announced Disney now owns the full rights to the franchise, I wonder what this means!

Re: Another refurb coming up for Indiana Jones

I hate for anyone to miss out on a favorite ride because it's down for a refurb when they visit the parks ... BUT .... I say DO WHATEVER IT TAKES to get this great ride back in peak condition. It truly is a pale shadow of it's original self. I also know that some of the effects didn't hold up well under constant use - but, technology has come a long way since this ride first opened, and although it still draws crowds, it's a crying shame to NOT let guests experience it as it was originally intended. Take the time to really FIX it!

I never can seem to pay attention during the bolder scene. I'm looking at the ground half the time because I'm too busy thinking about how the car isn't moving backwards. The whole set is moving instead. I didn't realize until now, but knowing that kind of ruins it for me.
