Frozen being tossed around as a replacement for Aladdin in DCA?

Should a “Frozen” musical replace long-running “Aladdin” stage show at Disney California Adventure in Hyperion Theatre? | Inside the Magic

Inside the Magic is reporting that TDA is considering replacing Aladdin with Frozen. A little bit of Dj Vu here....anyone remember when there was a similar rumor with Tangled? Thoughts?

I'd be happy with it if they had Olaf as a Genie like character which would keep the show fresh.

    I wouldn't be surprised.

NO! I mean, please no. "Frozen" is good, but not good enough.

Go with a 40-minute version of Julie Taymor's production of "The Lion King."
    Or "Mary Poppins."
    Or "Enchanted."

Rumors like these tend to pop up almost every time Disney has had a successful animated film ever since the Aladdin Musical opened at DCA. Besides, the Aladdin Musical was extended indefinitely after the fiasco over the Toy Story Musical announcement.

I think if done correctly and without cutting costs, a FROZEN musical stage show would be amazing, and beautiful. I hope this rumor becomes a reality, because I've been so tired of the Aladdin show for years now...we need something new and fresh. Come on, Disney, it's time to axe Prince Ali & Co.

I agree it's time for Aladdin to go I don't even watch it anymore. I love Frozen it's become my number 1 favorite Disney movie dropping down Sleeping Beauty to no. 2. Queen Elsa has also become my new favorite Queen/Princess knocking out Belle out of my top 3 favorites. So I would go see this show and (Can't believe I'm going to say this.) Not do my Character hunt like I always do.

The article has no sources. I was going to publish a similar article then realized that it has no merit what so ever.

I would like to see this. The songs in the movie and there transitions from spoken word to song are already made for the stage.

*shrug* It'd join a long line of Disney adaptation shows I have no interest in watching, so I'm not really for or against it if it's a binary Aladdin/Frozen choice. The snowman alone would keep me out of the theatre.

I still kinda wish they'd revisit the "Broadway or at least extracts thereof" that they tried with Power of Blast. If they can't get a full show, greatest hits extract versions simplified down (seriously, most of 'em are filler - well done, but still filler - in any case).
Credibility is to be sought for. Credulity is not. Sadly the latter is our normal human state.

Frozen works best as a winter show. Perhaps they are thinking of doing a winter show for late next year. It's not like they don't do stage adaptions for recent animated movies. I remembered they did the Hunchback of Notre Dame stage show at the Big Thunder Ranch. It was a very popular show.

and I say no to the Lion King, been done way too many times outside of the movie... no to Mary Poppins because it wouldn't be that funny and I don't want to sit through a musical... Enchanted? Well that one might work... Frankly It would be nice to see them do something new... Personally I've always wondered why they don't do more than one and simply rotate it from day to day or even week to week... I can't imagine the sets are so difficult to move around that they couldn't do different plays in the same place if they wanted to.

ORDDU: If the music from FROZEN was any good I'd say, "Sure bring it on!" But, unfortunately the songs from FROZEN are so forgettable and uninspiring it's a shame. It's the same for Animal Kingdom's Nemo Stage Show. The song writers for that show were the same as for FROZEN and none of the songs for either of those vehicles are worthy of being performed on stage. It's too bad Alan Menken didn't write songs for FROZEN...

it's going to be very difficult for disney to replace the 'can always update' Genie. The Genie is what brings repeat-ability to the show for many. How do you replicate that with these other films?
