Which Harbor hotel has GOOD WiFi?

I read a lot on here about the places who have sketchy, unpredictable WiFi.

Has anyone had good experience with the internet close (walking distance) to the parks? Free or not.
I'm guessing when its free you get what you pay for.

We always stay at the Candy Cane and have had excellent luck with the WiFi there.

Thanks Aloha, do you pay extra for it?

No, we have never had to pay for it.

Candy Cane was good, as was Fairfield Inn. Desert Inn was poor, Carousel was fair when it worked, but could take a lot of phone calls to get working.

If you have ATT DSL, several motels in the area have "hot spots" you can join. (Carousel is one, I think Tropicana is also one...)

Some hotels cheap out (some hotel owners are very cheap and wont invest into their properties) and basically use home use routers for their wifi and that is usually when you get the crappy wifi that doesn't work.

Call and ask hotels if they offer hardwired and wi-fi, if they offer both, chances are they are using a proper internet service for reliable service.

It seems to me that the wifi mostly depends on room location. If it's broadcasted5 rooms down the hall then it has to go through a bunch of walls and the signal doesn't easily get through. But if you are across the parking lot, it travels through two wall and is stronger.

I agree the Candy Cane seemed good but could be because it has "U" shape. It was also good at the Ramada Maingate which has the same shape.

    Carousel was pretty poor.

That's all I can easily remember.

Thanks for all the great info!

Internet is important for us because we run a home-based business and need to check on things while on vacation.

And oh, good tip about room location. I'll keep that in mind when booking our next stay.

I personally love staying at the Fairfield and have done so since they were the ramada back in the 80's.
Recently though on a few occasions when I've stayed there the wifi was pretty much non existant. Couldnt even connect to the logon page. Add to that the annoyance of erratic cell phone signal. Yeah it's free but when I've gone there so many times before and had not had this problem up until recently it boggles the mind.

I didn't even know you could find hotels that still had hard wired connections. Even hotels I use that used to have it have taken it out and only offer wifi now.

I've never worked or stayed at one that didn't have hard wire still available, the last 2 chains I've worked for, as a brand standard it was required.. You would be surprised how many bussiness travelers don't want to use a shared wifi for work.

Do we advertise we have it? No. But it is still available. ( my property was built in 2012, so not old either.
