I went to Disneyland Saturday with three people ages 2x, 5x and 8x and Captain Eo was their #1 favorite attraction, and we did Star Tours, Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Canoes, Jungle Cruise, Buzz Lightyear, Mr. Toad, Snow White, Asimo/Innoventions and the train through Primeval World, if I'm not forgetting anything.
It would be nice, if they're going to keep it much longer, if they'd convert the theater to digital and run the film through their stereo department to correct its misalignments stemming from the less-precise handling of stereo footage on 80s film than today's digital, but that would probably be more than they want to spend (but those profile shots of Idy/Ody really hurt).
There used to be the 80s Matterhorn cast video based on "Beat It" (called "Belt It") on YouTube but I can't find it.
Let's bring T2: Battle Across Time 4D to replace Captain EO from the courtesy of Universal of course!
I've also been saying for years that Disney should do a 4D show like T2: Battle Across Time in their own parks! Would be better if they did their version with the Avengers instead. With 3D films more common now a days though, Imagineers should look into taking that technology to the next level.
I'm not sure I'd call it a classic. Casey Jr. is a classic. Matterhorn is a classic. POTC is a classic. Anything that *originated* in the Eisner era (1986) would have a hard time being called a classic in my personal opinion. That was an ego project all the way.
