Captain EO, when will it be closed?

Any idea? It is never busy, would love to see it changed out finally!

It was supposed to close in September according to MiceChat, but I guess it is postponed now.

You could likely find people willing to die on any particular hill you drag up at the parks. Rocket Rods, Superstar Limo, Orange Stinger - I've seen passionate defenses of all of them.

Except Captain EO is a genuine classic.

...that rarely rates more than a single show cycle wait, and in the past few years rarely boasts more than 1/3 occupancy on shows.

"Classic" doesn't protect much at the parks when ridership slips.

Exactly! And when it was reopened it is lacking the lasers and other effects. It is outdated, underused and really should be scrubbed.

None of those type of shows ever seem to be that busy.

Part of why as much as for YEARS I would have easily called Muppets my favorite thing in DCA (until TOT, natch), I'll be sad but unsurprised when it and TTBAB go by the wayside. They're fun, but they're not keeping the audience rolling in the doors. I can't honestly remember the last time I've had to wait a full show cycle for Muppets, let alone a full house.

It's not scheduled or confirmed in any verifiable sense as leaving, but it doesn't draw anywhere near what it did shortly after Jackson's death, and definitely not what it did at the height of the ride's initial run.

Speculation starts circling rides that underperform at that level like vultures around a carcass.

It doesn't appear that they have the budget laying around for the amount it would take to upgrade the Magic Eye Theater for a replacement (digital projection at a minimum) so Eo may be the best likely resident unless we want to see it shuttered. I don't imagine "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" would be any more popular than "Captain Eo" at this point.
