How many Railroad and Monorail barns have there been in the history of Disneyland?

We all know of the current Railroad and Monorail barns near IASW.

Counting those as one of each... in the history of Disneyland, how many of each have there been? If you think you can list them (assuming more than one of each) by date and location, that would be fun too.

p.s. I'm pretty sure I know the right answer, but maybe I'll learn something today.

The monorail barn has never moved. The current DLRR roundhouse was moved when the built the monorail barn. The original roundhouse was behind the ROA and BTR area. So, I say 2 railroad, 1 monorail.

    How did said question arise?

I remember investigating this a few years ago and I just recently looked at the photos again. I'm just curious about this kind of Disneyland history. And I would love to get confirmation and additionally, dates of barn construction.

Anyway, I'll just give the answer (to the best of my knowledge):

2 Railroad barns and 3 Monorail barns.

Railroad barn 1 was in the way NW corner of the park, behind ROA as you say.
Railroad barn 2 is the current one next to IASW.

Monorail barn 1 was laid out W to E directly behind Casey Jr and the Fantasyland DLRR station.
Monorail barn 2 (presumably when they added the Hotel loop) was laid out N - S in about the location of Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin.
Monorail barn 3 is the current one next to IASW and above the Railroad barn.

That means they built 3 Monorail barns in the span of 7 years (1959-1966).

I'll post photos in a bit.

I voted for some other since there have only been 2 total buildings as Eric suggested.

The original shed/shop(it wasn't a roundhouse, that is just a nickname) was expanded as they brought in more trains. That original shed can be seen running east-west from Mickey and Friends. DL started with 2 trains and got 2 more, a 5th was added much later with those first 2 new trains the shed was expanded. As the monorail got built they made the new shed that has storage on the first floor for the steam trains and a second story for the monorails. That shed is the current one just off the north east corner of the park. These sheds are to maintain and store the engines and cars.

WDW was built with the two tier system as well. You can tour this one.

There were 3 Monorail barns (I use barn instead of roundhouse since there is no actual roundhouse) as I mentioned in the post above (includes the current dual purpose barn). There are photos to back that up.

Having 3 monorail barns makes sense. The fleet grew from two (1959) to three (1961) to four (1969). The fourth train (when there was one) parked at the Tomorrowland station because the maintenance vehicle took the fourth spot in the barn.
