    Advice for New Years Eve

I am going to be one of the crazy ones and camp out for the fireworks all day. Any advice or suggestions to stake out the perfect spot? That is all I want to do on New Years Eve, to see the fireworks. How do I claim one of the benches or a spot in front and center of the castle. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Benches get moved so don't claim one as it may be taken from you later.

A normal trick but may be risky to try on NYE is you loiter on the castle side of the roadway on the north end of the hub. When they block off the path over the drawbridge you take a seat. This is usually done about 30 minutes before the show. But this can put you a little too close to the Castle.

The better spot is to be on the edge of the curb with the partners statue behind you. This elevates you about 6 inches over the people in front of you on the roadway. You may need to stay a little to the side if they need to keep access open for the massive crowds.

Get there early, and bring something to entertain you as it's a long wait. Make friends with the people next to you and you might be able to take turns watching each other's spot. Brings snacks and remember you will have to get to a restroom a few times.

Be there super early, because there is a huge crowd that goes down Main Street (I live in my booth, I've seen it every year). Camp out there ASAP and think of games when you are waiting such as Disney Alphabet. Take turns with the people you are with. For example: the category is things in Disneyland (you can also do Disney characters or Disney movies) it would be Adventureland, Bobsleds, Country Bears.... and so on.

Or if you are still bored, and have an iPhone, go on micechat and read my stories. I am Tilly on Main Street and the animatronics and I do crazy stuff when the park closes. The link is in my signature below. Stop by the Main Street Cinema and say hi, I don't get many visitors.

I hope you have a magical time! Happy New Year

So crazy they may close the gates - even if you've already been in the park earlier that day & just headed to DTD for dinner you can't get back in.

Yes. People continue arriving throughout the day to be there for the parties and fireworks.

Definitely get into Disneyland as early as you can. And beware of the crush of crowd at the end of the fireworks show. I'd try to duck into one of the Main Street restaurants if you can and wait out the crowd. That can be insane to try to move about other than just go with the flow.
