The very back seat of the Ghostrider truly is painful.

    I hear that.

Screamin' is smooth by steel coaster standards even. It is that smooth. Surprisingly excellent coaster that keeps its speed up throughout the ride. Great mix of turns, drops, inversion, negative-g, etc. It's got a little bit of everything and it does it flawlessly. It is also a very long coaster, longest in CA (pretty sure that is still true). 6,000+ ft of track. You definitely feel like you got your money's worth on this ride.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

Is this the case or am I deluded?
Frankly I would prefer to ride California Screamin over Goofy's Sky School which from my experience jolt the crap out of your neck when it switches back and forth. California Screamin is the smoothest fast ride I think you'll find in either California Adventure or Disneyland.

Yes, GSS flings you back and forth and is rougher in general than CS. Does anyone know how CS compares to RnR at WDW?

It's smoother than Rockin' Roller Coaster. RnR is a corkscrew style coaster and those tend to be a little rougher. However by no means would I consider RnR rough, and as always the closer to the front the smoother the ride.

Ghostrider hurts! :-p Seriously. California Screamin is very smooth as people are saying.

For some reason, that's what I like most about Ghostrider. I love that I feel like I just got my butt kicked when it's over.

I wouldn't call it a "jolt" myself. You're not exactly going fast there. It's sudden maybe, but not jarring.

I have found that Screamin is smoother than Space Mountain. At least my ancient back and hips tell me this is true.

I would ride either in a heartbeat...

It is a very smooth steel coaster. It's the opposite of Matterhorn.

Re: Is California Screamin' smooth or bumpy?

The only part that seems a little more bumpy to me and less smooth than the rest of the ride, is the loop. I don't like loops all that much and they give me a headache, so I just close my eyes on that part.

Smooooooooth like a baby's skin. It's amazing. It deserves to be themed.

The Matterhorn, on the other hand... ouch
