Question Turkey Legs - Love 'em or hate 'em?

The post about where to get turkey legs in DCA made me think of posting these questions in a poll here.
Maybe it has been done before, but I did a search and didn't find one, so here goes ...

Turkey legs at Disney - some people love 'em, some hate 'em. There are wild rumors about them (not really turkey legs - ostrich legs, different meat products congealed together in the shape of a turkey leg ...), online recipes to recreate them, Disney souvenirs celebrating them ...

What do you think? Are you a fan or not?

I went with "other" because I finally tried one on my last trip. While I enjoyed it, it's not something I'm inclined to eat again. I ended up sharing it with the two people that were with me because there was no way I was finishing it on my own.

They are a rare treat. Really crave them about once a year.

Just curious about the people who voted "Never had a turkey leg and never want to try one."
Is it personal dietary preferences? Turkey legs just don't seem appealing?

No offense to people who really enjoy them (and obviously there are many!), but I do actually get grossed out by their look (and sometimes smell) sometimes. Never tried one at the parks, only had a similar type large turkey leg at a Faire some years ago (was alright), but for some reason seeing/smelling the turkey legs being enthusiastically consumed at the park it's a phenomenon I just can't relate to.

Well, that's one of the things that always amazes me Amanda - groups of people each eating their own big turkey leg - and finishing it! I mean, I like to eat as well as probably anyone else, but they are so huge! Seems like even if you enjoyed it it might be too much of a good thing!

It really is just a chore to get through. After about 4 or 5 bites, I was over it.

I know that there are definitely other people who feel the same. What makes them special?

is it me? or do they taste and look like smoked ham? And there's something quite Neanderthal about seeing people all dressed in their Disney/Mickey resort wear walking around holding a large bone gnawing on the meat, it's quite surreal

They look like ham and do have a somewhat hammy taste.

Re: Turkey Legs - Love 'em or hate 'em?

I'm not a big fan of turkey in general, so I usually skip the turkey legs. I have had them before and they're alright. They are just such a task to eat. Very messy.

They are savory and big. I don't eat that kind of food or that much often.

Re: Turkey Legs - Love 'em or hate 'em?

I voted 'other' because I don't necessarily hate turkey legs. In saying that, I'm neither a fan of the turkey legs. They're really salty to me, and there's just too much meat. I started gagging after maybe ten minutes. Give me a corn dog from Red Wagon, instead.
