Pix from a rainy day in December

A few photos from Dec at the resort. It was a rainy day, so they had Mickeys Rainy Day Parade instead of the normal Xmas parade.Name: IMGP6972-1.jpg

Not too bad. It was a Sat. and I got there at opening. It hadn't started raining yet. I went on Indy, Pirates, HMH and by the time I got off my solo ride on Splash, it was raining really hard. As the day went on it got more busy and rainy, so people with no umbrellas or ponchos were just standing in the stores, coverd walkways and basiclly casing a traffic jam when you tried to get to where you were going. There were about a dozen people sitting in front of my locker on Main Street and they looked anoyed that I wanted them to move so I could get my stuff. I had a cheap poncho and my water resistant Pentax K-30 DSLR, so I was fine.

Your pictures are really excellent! How do you get such clear, bright pictures inside the rides? I'd love to be able to do that. Unfortunately I have a slight hand tremor so they just seem to come out blurry.

I use a Pentax K-30 DSLR and 50mm F1.2 lens for the dark rides. The Pentax has a high iso of 6400 with low noise. It took me about a dozen trips over the last year to find just the right settings. It is some what a challenge because the boat is moving pretty quick and you have to be ready to take the shot and I'm using manual focus. I have the camera set to take 6 shots per second, so I just take lots of shots and hope I get one thats in focus and well lit. Trust me I have way more bad photos than good at the end of the ride.

Most modern DSLR's also have shake reduction technology, but I don't know the extent of "shake" they reduce. Canon & Nikon have shake reduction in the lenses, but Pentax has it the camera body no mater what lens is attached.

I can't see the pictures from my work computer, but I always thought that Disneyland looked it's best in the rain. In fact, I have a very vivid memory of working on the popcorn wagon during Christmas season in Fantasyland along the parade route, and seeing the park completely empty and the ground very wet, and all of the lights of Small World were reflected into the wet pavement and it looked like a beautiful stained glass mosiac.

These are gorgeous pictures! I was actually hoping for some rain (or at least cool weather) last week when we spent two days in the parks. I would love to experience a rainy Disneyland trip!
