I'll be in the park on the 11th and we sort of want to eat there, but we don't want to be tied down to any locked in time. So are reservations absolutely needed to get in?

No, you don't necissarily need a reservation. I've been able to get a table at the Blue Bayou twice on more crowded days by just asking if they were taking walk ins. You might have to wait a little bit until they can find you a table.
I would recommend reservations on a Saturday during a 3 day weekend. A lot of people have the 13th off for President's Day.

Which will free up space for a walk-in.Originally Posted by mcow1
BTW, is it actually a "reservation" or is it "priority seating". In the first case, there's a table that should be set aside for you. In the second, you simply get bumped to the top of the wait list.
Last time we were there (Oct.), we got Monte Cristos as a take out. We were bummed that it was too busy to get in and sit down, but I'll take the Monte Cristo anyway I can get it!! I am not sure whether you can get other food items the same way.
President's day is Monday, 2/20. Lincoln's birthday is Sunday, 2/12, but it is no longer celebrated as its own holiday.Originally Posted by SusieP.

I kinda doubt it will be super busy and I'm sure you could get a table if your willing to wait a bit and not want to have a reservation.

You set the bar I could not live up to

Call the park a few days before you go. There is a option in the phone menu system so you can make reservations there. Better to be safe than sorry.
On Sunday, I got to Disneyland around 10:00am, rode Space Mountain (about a 25 min wait) then went over to Blue Bayou, at around 11ish. I was able to make reservations for that night at 8:40pm. So even though you don't technically need to call ahead, I would recommend going there early once you get to the park to make reservations for that night.
Well I'll be at the park at 8:00am that Saturday, so...if we decide we want to eat there I don't think it should be too tough.
Saturdays usually book before the day-of. Worse comes to worse, you could book a time and come early to see if they can accomodate you, or come a little late.

If you REALLY want to eat there set up priority seating. If you think it would be nice but not a big deal if you miss it then try you luck at stopping by in the morning to see if they are taking walk ins for the day.
