Disney Treasure Found! Need help identifying!

My friend opened up his Wurlitzer Baby Grand piano that was built around 1955-1956 (serial number 549274) and there on the right side of the sound board was a green and silver metal tag with the words DISNEYLAND and to the right of that PROPERTY NO. 51628.

Here's what we're trying to figure out: is there a way to track this piano's history through its property number? Does anyone know where it might have been played at the Disneyland resort?

Do you belong to D23? You can get a free membership if not. Then" ask Dave", he is an official Disney Historian.

    wow! sounds cool
you also might be able to track the piano through the maker and the actual serial number?

    Does it look like this?

stuff from the park: Interior of Wurlitzer Music Shop

Your piano was probably used as a floor model in the Wurlitzer Music House on Main Street.

Thank you for posting that pic. It's almost identical except that there are two hinges on the top board instead of three.

The maker's serial number so far is pretty vague and mostly just identifies a range of manufacturing dates...but I like the date range since that would put the piano somewhere in the first or second year of Disneyland's opening.

Here are some photos. Notice that above the Disneyland property number is a number scratched into the metal. I assume that's the Wurlitzer serial number and that the Disney property tag was placed over the original Wurlitzer number, covering it, since that is where Wurlitzer placed their own numbers.

This piano might have been in the Wurlitzer shop, but at some point, apparently, it became Disney property. Or it might have belonged to Disneyland from the beginning. I wonder if there's ever been an attraction that used a baby grand piano...

You can email the Archives and ask without being a member of D23. Dave sometimes recommends people to do that in his Ask Dave columns. If you go back through old Ask Dave columns, you should be able to find the email address, as he has included it in some of his answers.
